To fight climate change we should do something about "conspicuous consumption", buying stuff we don't need just to show off. But we won't because it's women who do it much more than men? Instead, we'll concentrate on things men do more, like driving cars.

If you go to any city center or a shopping mall those places are full of shops that sell "useless" stuff for, mostly, women: fashion, decorations, makeup. By useless I mean stuff that meant for public display and brings no other value to the society.

Fashion, for example, is used to make other people see that you belong to the group that has money and a good, contemporary taste. But you can do that only by constantly differentiating yourself form the poor with a bad taste trying to catch up by buying more fashion. A race that will never end.

But where are the climate change warriors or politicians who talk about this? Instead, everybody concentrates on electric cars, flight taxes, veganism, and other stuff that isn't hard on women.

Women are, after all, a protected class, very few people have the guts to criticize in public the choices the female mojority makes.
