I totally agree. Those who are conscripted mandatorily into war shouldn't be counted as combatants.

I mean they do have arms and are in a slightly better position to defend themselves than other civilians, but what's important here is that they didn't choose to be in the war, they were forced to.

But really, what else do you call a random factory worker who was pulled out of a factory at gunpoint, given a gun, and told "kill these guys you don't know or we kill you"?

I can only half agree with this:

I agree that the lives of conscripts should be valued.

Where I disagree is: from the point of the person who is doing the killing, the conscript is still a valid military target. You have no way of knowing if the uniformed person pointing a gun at you volunteered on not.

Perhaps a way explaining this is that a civilian killed in a war zone was murdered by the enemy combatants. A draftee killed in a war zone was murdered by their own government.

Both are bad; but different entities are to blame and that is significant.

That is likely a very popular opinion in this sub.

Most of the world still has military slavery. It is by far priority number one for men/individual rights activists.
