Why do men marry parasites?

I don't quite understand the point of this post. Why do some women marry domestic abusers? Why do some men marry gold diggers? It's because there are an equal amount of shitty people in both genders.

I'm confused as to what the point of this post was.

The question that should be asked is 'Why do men marry?'

I did because I thought it was what I was supposed to do. It was what was expected of me. The laws for divorce are stacked in women's favor. As a woman, if you want out, you can get out, generally with the kids, child support and possibly alimony. As a man, you can get out, generally with giving your ex half your net pay, so she can live in the lifestyle she is accustomed, but now you can't.

The way I see it, either gender can get involved with assholes of another gender because they are blinded by emotion. I would wager that sex, in particular, plays a roll (especially first-date-I-haven't-been-laid-in-ages sex)*, as does the "Forever Alone" feeling and low self-esteem. Also, society encourages marriage, and the tax system is stacked to give married couples significant benefits. If kids are part of the equation, a sense of duty to the children could also cause the marriage.

* I have heard plenty of stories where by avoiding sex, the dude avoided some real hardship. None that I can immediate link to, but I'm sure another Redditor can assist me. Also, see "Fap on it"

Well, MRAs and other 'nice guys' often argue that women are just naturally attracted to assholes.

So just for the sake of wondering how you feel when it's thrown back at you:

Well I guess guys are just naturally attracted to parasites. It's evolution, doods! teh science! not oppression. amirite?
