I like women. I like children. These two phrases are truths to me. I don't mean I like ALL women or children, but I like the ones I like.

Based on that simple formula men realize we are going to and we will treat them with that respect. If that somehow makes an imbalance in the universe then a man says "okay, I can be that imbalance". It is what makes men beautiful.

Why did society mold itself into the way it is today?

Because of the above, women cannot be held as equally disposable as men. It's not even a matter of want, it's a matter of can.

Due to unequal disposability, women cannot be held as responsible for their actions as men are.

When you give equal rights with lesser responsibility, you create a system of moral hazard. What we are experiencing today is the end result of said moral hazard.

Because we were taught to ASSUME that women are equal to men... but the only way to make that true is to put women ABOVE men.

Gender equality has never existed in the real world and it never will. Men will always be on the top, or the bottom.

Basically, society from its genesis has had fairly strict gender roles. Men hunted while women gathered. Most ancient societies reflected the idea of gender roles in one form or another up until modern times. We began to realize that gender roles were oppressive. And at that time, they were mostly used against women; you can find quotes from Aristotle to Darwin talking about the inferiority of women. We moved toward equality as a society in many ways. Now, in our present state, we've reached a point where men have struggles comparable to the women issues that feminists tout. It's arguable that men's issues aren't as bad as women's issues, but people still refuse to acknowledge that men have gender issues.
Maybe this isn't the explanation you're looking for. I think the best way to explain how we got here is to look at how this happened to many movements to some degree or another. We went from protesting segregation to passing affirmative action in a fairly short timespan.

I do not know what TRP means, but I will give this a go:

Many of the difference in how society threat men and women compared to each other comes from the views of each gender according to the power holders (which, yes, was mainly white men) both currently and historically.

For instance the problem of women being sentenced less for the same crime than me. At least partially due to men in general (and even more so in the past) viewing females as more pure and less sinister/able to do evil than other men. This still has an effect inside of our culture, influencing the way people look at things and approach each situation, whatever they are aware of this influence or not. There is a larger tendency towards trying to explain away and justify any "evil" actions done by a woman than to do the same to an equal "evil" action done by a man. When doing so, part of the blame of the action gets removed from the subject who commited the action, and suddenly they appear to deserve less of a punishment than men.

This is entirely unjustified in a society where equality is supposed to exist, and MRA's standing up against the injustice is justified, even if the unjustice originates from other men originally (which I think it does)

why did society mold itself into the way it is today? well first of all, it didn't. people fought and died to make it the way it is today; history is made by people. but putting that aside...

why does our society encourage inequalities and divisions over gender? well, our society is built on a foundation of a fundamental inequality of wealth; as long as the men and women at the bottom (who outnumber the men and women at the top) are fighting each other over issues of gender, they're not going to be fighting the men and women at the top over issues of wealth, class, and power.

to put it another way, we can argue endlessly about whether both genders are properly represented in the US congress, but i'll tell you that there's a hell of a lot more women in congress than there are poor, working class or even middle class people of either gender.
