Used to be that at least in more 'manly' jobs or environments that men would earn more than women because they simply did the harder jobs. While I don't necessarily advocate for that as a blanket standard, I am getting a little frustrated.

I work in a pretty physical factory setting. I am an agency worker and each day I'm on shift there's anywhere between 7-15 agency workers. I don't know specifically how many men or women, but there's probably close to a 50/50 split.

Some jobs we're brought in to do(we're basically bodies to be abused and do what needs to be done, so we go and do what we're told) are a lot more physical than others. More times than not, the women are sent to the easy jobs while the men are sent to the hard jobs.

Frustratingly it's quite physically taxing. Multiple times I've finished my shift having taken 1000mg of codeine, barely able to walk with sprained wrists(admittedly an extreme).

I feel, though, that it'd be detrimental to my own standing in the workplace if I were to suggest that we were sometimes given the easier jobs. We're earning the same wage and brought in to serve the same broad purpose(which is whatever needs to be done) so I don't feel it's right that we should be putting ourselves through such hardship when the women get, by comparison, really easy jobs.

Anyway. Just annoyed.

If you can't or aren't prepared to do a job you're employed and paid the same rate as others to do, don't take the damn job. Please.
