I’ve been married almost 9 years, together for 13. We have three wonderful children. I was blindsided by an affair my wife was having with my good friend. I had no idea.
Last year I bought her the house of her dreams, and a new Polaris rzr just before this happened. I never knew anything was up.
One night, she went to have dinner with a friend, and didn’t say she loved me when she left, which was very unusual. We always kissed goodbye before I went to work, and always said we loved each other before we went our separate ways. I looked in find my friends, and seen she was at his house. I called to ask what was going on, and she said we need to talk when we get home.
Fast forward 3 months later, and I’m sitting here, without my family in an empty home. I’ve been medicated, and seeing a therapist once a week. And it’s helped.
I’m going to lose my family and be financially ruined. I’m looking at 4700-5100/month in child care and alimony. Even with 50/50 custody.
She shows no remorse for what she’s done, and I’m terrified to see her when we meet to pick up the kiddos.
I don’t know what’s going to happen next. I’m just scared, and destroyed. People say life goes on, but this was my life. I lived for my family.

What has happened to make it seem normal that a woman can walk out of her marriage into an affair with the kids and still drain huge amounts of money from her husband? This has been going on for 30 years so it seems normal, but it really ought to be shocking.

we live in a consumption economy.
men are savers, women are spenders.
money must be transferred from the savers to the spenders to keep the economy running.

She just won the lottery. She isn't going to be remorseful for that.

Meanwhile on The_Donald : "Marriage is a good thing"
No it isn't. Not until you fix this.

I'm pretty right but you just summed up why trad cons like those on the Donald (let alone ethnostatists) are people I have trouble getting behind.
No I don't want to marry with no legal protections or praise women for existing... Not my cup of tea.

I fully agree, but at the same time, I like all their other opinions, so it's the lesser of two evils.

It's the origin of evil actually, Feminism wouldn't exist without Tradcons thinking that good worker bees should place women on pedestals and let them do whatever without consequence.
Tradcons created and defined alimony, child support and codified the modern feminist system of domestic abuse enforcement. All of these things either predate feminism or predate feminist judges or like law enforcement were always the domain of the right.

Stuff like this makes me scared of having children. The idea that they could be taken away from me solely because my partner is a woman is absolutely terrifying. Also makes me scared of relationships in general, how can I actually trust anyone else enough to not cut and run when an opportunity presents itself.

I'd think there would be red flags in a relationship before it even got to this point.
Also, keep in mind there's probably a decent amount of amicable divorces and relationship breakups involving children and custody arrangements. We only ever really see the negative ones because they make the news.
I agree it makes me leary of relationships myself. I have cousins in other states that have had multiple women try to fuck them over (one's ex even nearly killed their daughter as a baby due to a drunken beating by her and her new boyfriend at the time).

And it's locked for "rampant, ridiculous sexism", apparently. Of which, surprise surprise, there is none. Which means the only thing I can really say to that is this.
