Yes, it definitely exists. Some people have vastly more sexual options than others. There are usually reasons why this is the case.

No. Attraction exists.

You can equate attraction to SMV, but SMV is dependent on the person who is judging the attraction which doesn't make it a very useful tool to determine overall value of a person.

Additionally, the way that Red Pillers use and apply the concept of SMV is very flawed, incomplete, and biased conveniently in their favor.

At the end of it, if we are talking about the value of person, most people, both male and female, judge others based on the entire package - a summation of all of a person's attributes. Not individual traits, as TRP presumes that women are only judged on appearance and nothing else. Whereas, conveniently, men are allegedly judged on their success...something that tends to increase with age and not expire.

The reality is, women are judged for more than just their appearance, and men are judged based on their appearance and age as well, especially when talking about purely sex. Your success, resources and personality matter little if a girl is simply using you as a one night stand.

I don't really get why this is termed as "value." Isn't it just mutual attraction? I mean we can debate subjective vs. conventional attraction until the cows come home but at the end of the day if you wanna fuck a man or a woman you're attracting them either way. I don't see why you have to use a value analogy.

There is a sexual market in so far as that there are multiple parties that try to find a good "offer" - that is, another person they feel attracted to.

That sexual market is vastly distinct from a normal market scheme in that both parties try to find a good offer. There are no objects to sell, but people who try to get together.

This actually makes the concept of SMV itself pointless already, because it is clear that neither a man nor a woman will be interested in being as attractive as possible to as many people as possible. Instead, both will try to appear attractive to the people they themselves consider attractive. Everything else would be a waste of resources.

Which leads us to the second point. It is not only undesirable to maximize SMV, it actually doesn't exist either, at least not in the way that it is commonly defined by the people using the phrase. SMV would imply there is some objective value. For example, a dollar clearly has the same value for everyone. The individual coin might have additional emotional worth, or aesthetic, or whatever; but the point here is, if you give a person a dollar, you'll be able to predict what this person can buy with one dollar.

When you put a potential sex partner in front of someone, you will NOT be able to predict their reaction in such a way. SMV tries to say "person x has slept with y people, so that has this and that influence on SMV" or "Person x looks like this or that, so it influences SMV by y", which is pointless to say, because individual people will have individual interests, so your arbitrary number wouldn't say anything for their specific case.

And as said before, measuring SMV as "How appealing one is to the average man/woman" is both pointless AND impossible, since the average man or woman doesn't actually exist.

If you want to define SMV as "This person appears attractive to me" though, then yes, of course it exists.

This is a reall good question! And actually it shines light to the root of my disagreement with RP - that RP basically thinks that dating and relationship are all about sexual desire - that it is the "tinder" thing, the "fire", the "chemistry", raw bodily desire about another person.

But I believe it is not so. In my experience it is often more like people bored of being lonely, seek out each other, see if they are compatible... desire not playing a huge role, especially not initially. Sex is just one of the many activities they do together.

Maybe if there are other... kinds of subcultures of people who are really so hard sexual desire driven, SMV makes sense and even much of RP makes sense. For the kind of people I know not.

"Sexual Market Value" in the exact way its defined on TRP (or anywhere)? No.

'sexual market value' as a nebulous amalgam of factors determining whether people choose one another for intimacy? Absolutely, indisputably.

If there is any discernment at all in partner choice then there is a 'market' and 'value' is being appraised (subconsciously or not).

Disagreement about the constituents of SMV are inevitable, and any absolute declarative statements about the nature of the process are going to be incorrect because people aren't omniscient.

Of course it exists. Everyone attempting to form a relationship with anyone else places a value on any potential for said relationship. All of us have those in our lives we decide not to give attention to and selfishly enough this is because of the perceived value on the rejected party.

Relationships are give and take. I have something of value: time, energy, wealthy, looks, security, comfort. You have something of value: time, energy, wealth, comfort ect.... let's trade, ie have a relationship.

Does more than pure sexual attraction come in to play? Absolutely! She may be annoying, he may be rude, each traits which might lower the value of the individual with the trait.

Is value a two way street? Again, absolutly!

Is smv completely arbitrary and up to the individual? Yup

I don't think sexuality is objective enough to assign it a metric of value to people. That includes men and women. You could certainly say someone is more attractive than another but going any further seems to be a wasted effort due to how subjective attraction is in the first place.

Well "sexual market value" implies that such a thing exists that is the "sexual market", which operates in a way akin to the economic market. I reject that idea, so I also reject SMV.
