I mean clearly race plays a big role in attractiveness.

You can argue that we're conditioned to associate one race being more beautiful than the rest, but clearly that's the country is currently framed.

And then there's the 'ideal human face', which for women consists of big eyes, a small nose, high cheekbones and high brows. For men it consists of a stronger jaw, wider eyes and more gaunt cheeks.

Huge variations across the USA and across various social groups. In educated professional circles on the west coast (i.e. my tribe) being less than totally white probably increases SMV.

The further South you go, the bigger of a deal it is. Still too many white chicks who wouldn't dream of bringing anything but a white dude to their dad. Easiest way to put it. It sucks, but it's true. I personally am attracted to two races. I generally don't go for guys of other races based solely on physical appearance. I have had a few guys that aren't my usual types who were attractive and had amazing personalities, but I usually stick to my own race, and one other. It's not a hard and fast rule by any means... but it is who I am generally attracted to.

I don't have super strong beliefs about whether races should or should not date others. I have a few friends in mixed race marriages it seems to be fine. Personally, I find non western men unappealing and they probably do not like me so it has worked out fine.

I'm a biracial woman, and all things considered it seems to be a +1 niche on the SMV, it seems everybody (except Asians) wants to hit it.

However, I'm also an American girl and I've been conditioned to find western men attractive. Generally White, Black, and Hispanic.

For some people race is an issue, but for others (like myself) race is secondary compared to cultural compatibility. I can date a White, Black or Hispanic man in the US and guarantee we share enough cultural value and recognition that I could be introduced to his family with no problem (and vice versa).

Indian, Arab, Asian men are a bit outside these shared values and I think are disadvantaged in the western SMV because of that.

And Indian guy could be born and raised in a suburb of Peoria Illinois (culturally similar to where I grew up), and I've still be very hesitant to date him because...well, what if he's not truly western? What if his family is still heavily influenced by the Old Country? Its all well and good to grow up in Americana...until push comes to shove, marriage enters the picture, and all of a sudden western dating ethos is thrown out in favor of some sort of old world religious bullshit.

Fuck that. Unless a girl is wholly smitten and patient, I don't supposed most western girls would risk some cultural BS when they could easily hook up with an attractive western man and join families with little fuss.

Even for hook ups/casual sex, western men can assume an easy fit, whereas Indian/Asian/Arab have cultural baggage hanging around shielding them from free and easy sex. They may very well want to participate (god knows they've infested TRP), but the perception of where they come from (and the attitudes towards casual sex and loose women from those areas) instantly disqualifies them from drunk Stacy looking for some semi anonymous dick.

According to OKC data, the hierarchy is something like this:

White men
Pacific Islander/Native American/Middle Eastern Men
Latino Men
Asian Men
Indian Men
Black Men

AND THEN

Middle Eastern Females
Asian Females
Pacific Islander Females
White Females
Indian Females
Latino Females
Native American Females
Black Females

I don't think there should be a rule about people dating within their own community but for some people, they will probably have more success if they do so.

The USA seems to be more racialized, particularly about blacks. In Canada, the natives are restless. . .literally, and it is an issue that crops up every now and then.

There is also the nexus among race, culture and religion. Culture is in first generation Asians and religion among those from the Middle East.

Unless you are living in a place like Toronto (where visible minorities are actually a majority) the simple answer is to act more "white" and date white white people who, if not a majority, are probably the largest segment of the population in a 30-mile radius.

Personally, I don't care about race per se although on balance I find some women more attractive than others. Again, culture is a big factor.
