I often see the idea that a man shouldn't be too open, emotional or vulnerable with his female partner. If you truly believe in this idea and you're in a LTR, how do you deal with some issues inside your LTR and with emotional hard times? For example, grieving or being stressed out. Issues also can be pretty different, but I guess most people face at least some share of them. Like when one (or both) is stressed as hell due to work or study or when you have a sleep deprivation during the first months of your newborn.

I'm curious because I've been in LTRs for 6 years and for most of it both of us are quite open about our feelings and I do think that it's helped us to stay together and be really close to each other. I value relationships, which allow me to feel the connection with another human being and experience our vulnerability and intimacy, so I'm not sure what are the points in the LTRs with a person, who you can't possibly be open and honest with.
