The "study" is UK based but still holds some interesting bits, especially that it seems what is going on in the US is also crossed over between the two. The "study" can be read here. Study is in quotes because this isn't from an academic source.

Most respondents had felt a low point in their lives (89% of males and 94% of females). Females were more likely than males to have felt most of the emotions they were prompted by, with the exception of frustration, which males were more likely to have felt (48% compared to 45% of females).

Would have thought more men than women had felt a low point. But glad they looked at frustration, as male symptoms of depression are by and large not looked at nor widely acknowledged or recognized. But the difference in frustration is much narrower than I had thought it be.

The main reasons males felt depressed (Figure 7) were mental health (30%), financial difficulty (30%), followed by ‘a problem I could not solve’ (23%), family or relationship breakdown (22%), and bereavement (22%). However females felt all of these reasons more than males

Interesting that females felt these reasons more so than males. As I would think men still stuck being the breadwinners they would feel least financial difficulty more so than women. And given the poor record on men's mental health it would also be higher than women's.

Males clearly worry more than females that if they lost their job they would be seen as less of a man, however when respondents were asked if they would see their partner as less of a man/women, only 7% of females agreed or strongly agreed with the statement, suggesting that males fears were unsupported.

The statement was still supported by a small amount of women. More so the researchers here didn't look at how both men and women view men who had lost their jobs. Bring this up as I bet they may find the results more supportive of men thinking they are less of a man for not holding up their gender role.

Women were more likely to state they and their partner should be equally responsible for these roles in a relationship, and a significantly higher proportion of women feel that they should be less responsible than their partner for these responsibilities. Despite these differences, the majority of men and women feel that they should share these three responsibilities equally with their partner

Wonder what the percentages here where. As it seems both men and women want women and men to equally be responsible for legal and financial matters, be emotional strong when there's a crisis, and take charge during crisis. Its no surprise a larger portion of women want men to take up these roles.

Over half of male respondents (55%) who thought that men were stereotyped in the media felt that they were stereotyped in a mostly negative way. Females felt the opposite 64% of them felt that men were stereotyped in a positive way

This is pretty interesting. As I almost wonder if most women think the media stereotype men positively and majority of men think its negative do women themselves have negative views of men? Or do men view themselves negatively and its wrapping their view on things.
