Not surprised. Texas has had such an issue with female teachers ~~fucking~~ raping students that they literally toyed with the idea of repealing the law that makes it illegal for a teacher to fuck a student, so as long as the student was able to consent, no crime occurs.

This is a horribly ingenuous comparison. The man was 60, and the girl was 15. Which (15) is under the age of consent in Florida, 18. The female teacher was in Texas, she was 25, and the guy was 17. Additionally, the female teacher had sex with the student once. The Florida man had a full sexual relationship with the student. Incomparable.

For someone out of US, how is this even illegal? Like, I understand the impetous to fire these teachers for corrupting their profession ethically, but why is the state concerned about punshing with prison sentences what I assume is consensual sex by both parties? (assuming there's no minors involved)
