Oh boy, I hate Lena Dumham AND Alex Jones, I hate third wave feminism and social justice, but truly believe in equality and impressions based on merit beyond anything else, I support the death penalty, but hate mass incarceration for non violent offenders, believe in the right to abortion and national health care, but I think Hillary is a fucking snake that wouldn't have been any better and possibly worse than Trump, global warming is real and also immigration should have stricter standards and I don't think we should just recklessly allow refugees into the country because Islam has genuinely proven itself dangerous with the radicals, even though I believe that the majority of muslims are likely non-violent and shouldn't be turned away just because of what religion they follow and oh geeze where do I rest on the political spectrum?

I'll try to give my opinion on all of your points (it sounds fun) i believe in equality of opportunity, but not of outcome, I also believe men have a tougher time of it than women. I support the death penalty but we as a culture should avoid retribution. I support incarceration for crimes with tangible victims (this would include drug dealers but pot should be legal) I believe in abortion only in cases of rape, incest, and the health of the mother. Never as a form of birth control, thus I believe in subsidized contraceptives. Universal healthcare is a great idea, but it won't work because too many people would take advantage who don't contribute anything. (This isn't Canada) I agree Hilary is a snake, but Trump is under qualified. I'm giving him a chance, but I truly voted for him because I'm against so many things he stood up to (the list goes on and on) global warming is real, but I'm not sure crippling our economy is the best way to go. I don't believe it's entirely humanity's fault and could be a natural change. I think we fall in the same political realm when it comes to immigration. There are many talented and patriotic people from abroad I'd love to call my countrymen, but if you're illegal, you are neither of these things. I buy the Pew Research statistic that stated that around 1/4 of Muslims are extremist (such as believing a suicide bombing was sometimes okay) but I know plenty of Muslims (I'm from Minneapolis) who are awesome people. Our cultures need to be brought together gently and slowly and America should never bend to a foreign culture. There needs to be a way to vet refugees and there needs to be an agreement that if let in, they will be resettled back home when the reason they are refugees is over. Also, when you're in a safe area, out of danger, that's where you fucking stay. I don't give a shit what country you'd be better off in. Beggars can't be choosers.

No because I don't believe Milo is an awful or useless human. He pushes for the freedom of speech while university campuses and other places seek to remove it. He exposes Feminism and Black Lives Matter really are. Hate filled movements built upon lies and extremism, and he tries to educate people on the dangers of Islam and the more extreme followers of the religion.

I don't think it is honestly. The conversation was taking place within the context of him talking about his personal experience as a 13 year old with an older man. He's talking about him being molested as a child. Rather than publicly say "I was molested, I was a victim!" He tries to frame it as "It was actually very good for me, it helped me with stuff"

Of course you can pull out a single quote and say "Well TECHNICALLY the way he phrased it means that he's not just talking about his personal experience but he's also advocating relationships with 13 year olds"

But do you really think that's what he meant? At the end of the day this is the internet and if you don't like milo and want to believe that, then the video will give you justification for that belief. But really ask yourself, does that interpretation really make the most sense given the context? Or does it make more sense that he was talking about an extremely traumatic personal experience over the radio and bravado lead him to phrase it very very poorly?

From the context it was very clear that he meant that. It's painfully obvious. He made a different joke in a different context and people are trying to combine them together as if they're the same thing.

He was arguing with people who were like "Pedophilia is bad, you are defending child molestation". He tried to justify it by saying that 13-year olds are sexually mature and that it was distinctly different from having sex with children younger than that.

But really ask yourself, does that interpretation really make the most sense given the context? Or does it make more sense that he was talking about an extremely traumatic personal experience over the radio and bravado lead him to phrase it very very poorly?

I find it conspicuously contradictory that he would say that the age of consent laws were correct, that indeed an adult man should not have a relationship with a 13 year old. Then, as you claim, he would immediately afterwards say that it's perfectly fine for an adult to have a relationship with 13 year old.

Yea, you're right. Technically, the words he chose to use imply that he was condoning sex with 13 year olds but that seems like an uneccesarily malicious interpretation given the context.

Id be less forgiving if this was something he wrote, edited, and plublished. But this was a radio show, he was on the spot where people were publicly telling him he was a victim of molestation and he felt the need to defend that and preserve his public image.

I agree that the wording is bad but I think this issue is almost entirely because milo is milo and people have been looking for a reason to crucify him. If it were anyone else, everyone would easily recognize this for what it is. A person letting bravado get the better of them

And what I'm saying is that we should put his words in the context of the conversation he was having. Which was about him. It was about him and his experience being molested.

Given the fact that he was talking about how he was NOT a victim, and that he also said that adults who sleep with 13 year olds should go to jail, it seems fairly plausible that what was happening there was that he was wording his position poorly. His position principally being that he was not a victim.

Yes, I'm aware that he generalized his experience to others but what I'm saying is that I believe that was just an instance of him misspeaking and failing to articulate himself about an extremely personal and traumatic experience. Again, this is evidenced by the simple fact that just minutes earlier, he clearly states that he thinks adults who sleep with children should go to jail.

So when you respond to that argument saying "...But he said it was okay". Yes, I'm already aware. In fact, it's the basis of what I'm saying so you just repeating that over and over again gives the strong impression that you don't actually understand the nuance of what I'm saying.
