Nope if that was the case what the rich dude said wouldn't have hurt so much. If she was just looking for someone independent she wouldn't have thought of herself as the struggling guy (assuming she's completely independent)

I always wondered why some women openly strive to date/marry only richer men, yet later wonder why those same rich men begin to look down on them!
Shouldn't those men be seeking even richer women? Or at least go for women trying to make the best of themselves? It's simple; you didn't meet their high standards, but they couldn't find anyone better.
[–]Oz70NYC 213 points214 points215 points 4 years ago* (40 children) | Copy Link
A rich man will date down. A rich woman won't. A guy making $500k/y will date and/or marry a gal who works at Chick-fil-A if she's pretty, but to a woman making the same...that cute security guard is beneath her.
Cue the downvotes from the feminists and white knights. Your feelings don't make my statement untrue. You know it. I know it. Objective truth can't be debated.

A guy making $500k/y will date and/or marry a gal who works at Chick-fil-A if she's pretty,
No...not really. That's kind of a myth. They'll bang a girl from chick-fil-a...
I tried dating a waitress for a while...we just didn't have that much to talk about at the end of the day. She wanted to go to school, I didn't feel like paying for it.
[–]Oz70NYC 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Fair point. The gist is that a rich man will acknowledge an average woman dependant on their attractiveness. Majority of rich women won't acknowledge the existence of an average man...even if he is conventionally attractive by most standards.
[–]chakan2 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I kind of agree with that and I kind of don't. This is acedotal and not fact, so I don't necessarily refute your statement.
The number of high powered women I've known with a boy toy is high. The difference is they don't really talk about it. It's very hush hush when the career driven She-Ra is banging the pool boy.
Edit: At the end of the day... The pool boy typically knows what the relationship is about... The attractive side piece girl may not. Dunno... Like I said, that's just been my experience and may not be a good generalization.
[–]Oz70NYC 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Age is relative also. High earning men tend to go for women 10 years younger. A woman who is still fertile and can give him children if it gets that far. If he's 35, he's looking for a gal between 24-28. If he's in his 40s, same range give or take 2 years.
[–]chakan2 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's a good point. I made an Edit elsewhere...basically, if I were still in my 20s I don't know if I'd be having the same argument.
If he's 35, he's looking for a gal between 24-28.
That could be true...but that 24 year old better have something going for her if she wants to move beyond hot side of tail and into recipient in the will.
[–]LXXXVI 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The point is that the rich guy won't disqualify a woman because of her income. Or would you date an equally rich woman you wouldn't have "that much to talk about at the end of the day" with, just because she could cover her own tuition?
[–]chakan2 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
It's more than that... If a chick is 20 and not in college, and not working a 'real' job... I want no part of her. She's going to be a lot to work on before she's wife material.
TBH, this day and age, that smells like a lawsuit waiting to happen anyway. It's just not worth it.
EDIT: Something important to note...I'm old...If my 20 year old self were speaking right now, this would probably be a totally different conversation. You'll hit a point in your life when you realize chasing ass isn't worth it. I'd argue that most of the people who are "rich", who aren't trust fund babies, crossed that threshold at some point.
It takes self discipline and serious analysis of the money to pleasure ratio. Chicks are expensive, and the jobless cute bunnies are usually not worth it in that equation.
[–]LXXXVI 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not that I disagree with anything you're saying, but you're going to extremes. The point above is that rich men generally won't disqualify women because they don't make tons of money alone, whereas even an average-earning woman has issues with an average-earning men because he's "too poor" for her. Regardless of anything else.

[–]KarmaSaver -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I gave you literally the exact example you asked for. The parameters were:
A woman making over $500k (she does, and continues to make billions every year)
Married to a man worth significantly less (he is)
Who makes the national average (he does)
These were the perameters that you set and I fulfilled them. Whether or not you choose to accept facts is up to you, I don't have any skin in this game. I'm not a chick but it was nice to be called sweety by a guy again, I do love femboys uwu
[–]Oz70NYC 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well seeing as you communicate like a bitch, determining your gender is a bit challenging. I think you're confused to who the femboy is though, "fella".
And since you've got no skin in this game, you can see your way out of this discussion. Self made wealthy women are rare, and the vast majority of them don't date down. That's fact, and your feelings don't matter.
End of convo. Whatever tripe you have to say next won't be read or even acknowledged. Good luck with the Trans thing you've got going.

[–]grahamk1 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I disagree I know plenty of guys that make 500k and over and would never date a girl that works at chic fil a. However they would absolutely date someone who is less successful but they all have a carrier of some sort. If you are serious about finding a partner the family is important and the family of a woman that works at chic fil a would not be a good cultural fit. Not that their is any thing wrong with working at chic fil a.
[–]Oz70NYC -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
So you're insinuating that a person who works in fast food is of low value and likely comes from a sub par family?
[–]grahamk1 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I’m assuming that it would be a poor cultural fit yes. Not that it cannot happen and that their is anything wrong with working fast food as long as it is not the end goal. If that’s where someone wants to work for life that’s fine but that personality is not going to be compatible with a successful and driven individual.

you know what, I have no problem with gold diggers being honest and saying that they only date rich guys because on the other hand we look for beautiful ladies and we are honest about that. [–]professorjaytee 34 points35 points36 points 4 years ago* (23 children) | Copy Link
That's true. But how many of these women do you think are honest about it? I'm not bloody rich, but not poor. Do shows on cruise ships, when they're running.
So, I've made a few wealthier friends. One man is very rich indeed, and prefers to simply hire "escorts" as needed. He says it's refreshing, since they're both being open and honest about what they want from their "relationship." And it won't turn into drama if he doesn't hire her again the next cruise.

70% of people in the US who marry stay married until death. If you want to remain bitter and alone like others in this sub, that's your business. But at least understand the stats.
[–]Bljman98 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
“Stay married”, you didn’t say “stay HAPPILY married.” I wonder what percentage of that 70% is actually happy to be in their marriage.
Just because you’re married doesn’t mean you don’t feel alone, bitter, or trapped. Dead bedrooms, abuse emotionally and physically, and just incompatibility.
Have you never heard women say “He’s never here” or “he’s always gone” or “He’s always working” even though they’re married? You most often hear this for their excuses to cheat.
Then how many men feel like they can’t leave their shit marriage due to them being scared to have everything taken from them (house, business, cars, children).
[–]Elhaym -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Study after study shows married people are happier than unmarried. Bitter people tend to blame the world around them rather than look within.
[–]king_of_the_potato_p 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link
LOL right 70% stay married but first marriage divorce is always above 50% and marriages past the first are even worse off.
Cus those numbers work out.....
BTW I'm divorced, marriage isnt worth it.
The average marriage lasts less than 8 years in the U.S. https://www.lawinfo.com/resources/divorce/how-long-does-the-average-marriage-last.html
Guess that 70% stayed married until death claim just went right out the window.
[–]Elhaym -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
I see you dont understand statistics. 70% of people who marry don't divorce, yet 50% of marriages end in divorce. You don't see how this could possibly be reconciled yet to anyone with half a brain it's obvious: there are a substantial number of people who marry, divorce, marry, divorce, etc and they throw off the overall rate.
Here's a good write up.
https://psychcentral.com/lib/the-myth-of-the-high-rate-of-divorce#3
Also, study after study show that married people are happier than unmarried. I'm sorry for your unsuccessful marriage. Don't let it make you bitter about the idea of life partners in general.
[–]JurassicGinger69 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Wtf where did you get that number? Nearly half end in divorce.
[–]Elhaym -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Half of marriages do, but not half of people who get married. There's a population of people who serially marry and divorce who skew the statistics.
[–]professorjaytee 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Why lonely? Loneliness is when you aren't happy being with yourself. Well-balanced people don't get "lonely." Only needy people with issues to solve do.
Once someone has learned to accept themselves, the distraction of a constant companion isn't necessary. You can do whatever you like whenever you like, too.
If you still can't quite stand being alone with yourself, try getting a pet! Much easier than trying to plan everything around another person.
