I have a very strong belief and this extends to my family as well. But if you go looking for trouble you better take it, if trouble is looking for you I got your back.

So if my wife/girlfriend starts a fight I might try to prevent but the second it starts she is on her own. Though I'll take care of her afterwards along with saying "I told you so" a lot.

Technically I shouldn't answer since I'm a straight woman and I'm sure this is something you would prefer men answering, but I want to put my opinion out there anyway. If she punches first, then I wouldn't defend her other than picking her up off the floor after she gets laid out. I am a firm believer that you don't punch anyone unless you expect to get punched back. If she starts a verbal argument and he punches first, I'd wanna lay that man out.

Honestly, if a woman can dish it she should be able to take it. Getting hit, or whatever is going on repeatedly gets old & I would expect someone to snap whether it’s toward a man or woman. A man can only take so much, if a woman was putting her hands on a man a man should be able to defend himself maybe not all his power, but should be able to push them away, or whatever they need to do to make it stop or to get away from the situation. This is coming from a woman. Just because you’re a woman doesn’t mean you should be able to go around acting like an idiot & acting surprised when you get what you’re asking for/deserve.

Firstly, I guess I would try to descalate the situation before she does something like that, but given the chance I fail to do so (she pushes me away, punches him before I can react, etc.) it's hard to predict. Kinda depends on how it goes after the first hit, since you don't actually know how crazy some people, and hence their reactions, are.

Since this is hypothetical (I'm assuming it is) I'll answer with that kind of scenario. Say she punches the guy first. He punches back, stops; that's cool, since he just balanced things out (yeah, maybe I'll get mad, but I probably won't blame him). Now, say he punches back, then goes for another hit; I stop him there, since that would be too much (given she punched once); finally, say he has whatever blunt object in his hand (glass, stick, sth made of metal, whatever); I'd stop him there too, since that could potentially be way more damaging than a punch.

Those are just a couple scenarios that come to mind, but if it IS as simple as a punch for a punch, then I guess I would be madder at my gf for starting shit than at the guy (given the reason was dumb/not worth it)

I've had to do it before. I defended her from his increasing temper but apologized to the guy and had to restrain her till her drunk ass settled down. She's an ex now.

You shouldn't let her get in that situation in the first place. And you shouldn't fight the guy, but grab your girl and restrain her before the guy beats her ass.

Im gonna be honest. I wouldn't be with a woman who would hit a man without reason. And a really good reason too. My wife of 12 years now knows if she hauls off and hits a guy, when he hits her back im gonna kill his ass and definitely be in prison for a bit. So it better be serious.

In this instance, after the punch it'd immediately be "Break up any further attacking and get her the hell out of there".

She will 100% bitch about you not standing up for her afterwards, but there isn't much you can do legally without putting yourself in harms way, and if she is angry at you for NOT putting yourself in danger, then you need to drop her.

I just don't associate with people who try to find trouble. Dated one girl like this who I didn't know was that way beforehand.

A few months in she started some shit for no reason with a guy who had nothing to do with her.

I let her fight her own (losing) battle then apologized to the dude and dropped her off at home and dumped her. No room in my life for that shit.

In all honestly, yeah, I'd defend her. I may not hurt the guy if possible, but I wouldn't be able to just watch her get beat up. But if it happened again, she wouldn't be my girlfriend anymore. I wouldn't be with someone who goes around starting fights with men. And if it was bad enough the first time, or she clearly was starting the fight with the intent of me fighting for her, then I'd probably break up with her right away.

depends why the fight began. ive had many public arguments with my boyfriend because he starts to ignore me or even tell me fuck off when i ask him if he wants to talk about whats bothering him. if she starts an argument over some dumbass bullshit (ex: he didnt wash the dishes, he wont hang out w my cuz he got work, he wants to hang w his friends) then yeah but a person should never hit someone they’re in a relationship w, boy or girl

I have a strong sense of equal punishment, I'm a slap for slap kinda guy. If my wife started to unload on a guy(which I don't believe will ever happen) she's gonna get smacked by me. I'll take his punch if need be but if he keeps going then may the best man win.

The main reason I'm confident in knowing her actions well enough to be able to say this is, even while so drunk, to the point she can only craw, my wife has never been violent except to slap away a hand reaching for her inappropriately so it will be likely a provoked response in which case if I see the offence may the best man win.
