Day planner recommendations?

My grandmother always used a leather bound diary, like this. She loved it, and now that she passed, I have years of these day planners in her handwriting. I tried getting into the habit, but it just wasn't practical for me. There were too many things competing for my attention to remember to write and read the planner regularly.

Instead, and this might be TMI - I have a calendar & a pen hanging next to the commode in my bathroom. Mine is from the Nature Conservancy and has a blank area to write notes on the bottom. I tend to have goals and reminders, some of which I pose as questions.

How is dog behaving since training classes ended 3/14?

Make reservations for X before it fills up.

SO said he wants to eat less of X

That way, no matter what else is going on, I'll be reminded at least twice a day to keep an eye on specific things that might otherwise drift into inattention.

I have the small passion planner. I liked it when I first got it, particularly the goal mapping and note sections in the back. I've discovered that I just don't like planning my days by the hour. I feel a lot of pressure when I do it, and thus rarely do what I write. It's like I get excited and follow my schedules for a couple of weeks, then get sick of it all. So instead, I've been using the planner as more of a datebook and journal and following a daily checklist I placed in my household binder. I put the checklists (a different one for each day, with none for Sunday) in sheet protectors so that I can use a dry erase marker to check the boxes. There's this really cute Microsoft Word checklist template that's got kitties and mice on it that I used (they have a puppy one, too!)

Prior to this I tried a magnetic chore board that I put on the wall, but I kept forgetting all about the darn thing. I'm thinking of switching to a planner that is monthly only and using my checklists for daily chores - I really don't like having things written in two different places, both on weekly and monthly. Then I could consult my calendar and write things to remember on my daily checklists in the binder. If anyone knows of a good monthly planner, let me know!!

Great thread! I usually get a Lilly Pulitzer planner every summer (they go summer to summer instead of January to January) but I dropped mine in the lake last month. Oops. The new ones haven't been released yet, and I'm not sure if I want to wait a few more months (I'm kind of lost without it) or try something new.

If you can wait, the Lilly ones are fun because they have cute stickers for things like "date night" and "pamper time", etc.

I've yet to find one I like! I really just want an online version because I "think" better while typing rather than writing. Also my handwriting is crap and I don't want to have to carry around a bulky planner.
