I have a decent supply of "arts and crafts" stuff around the house that helps me to make seasonal decor work. Here are some things I have done in the past:

Cut paper "leaves" from construction paper to hang on the wall. You could do a leaf wreath or a cascade of falling leaves depending on the space you are filling.

Painting pumpkins. Most craft stores have styrofoam/plastic pumpkins that can be painted with acrylic paint. At the end of the season, you should be able to scrub off the old paint for the next year.

Baked goods as short term decor. This might be my inner fat kid, but I find displayed baked goods to be really cozy. This might mean a batch of cinnamon rolls, a spice cake, or some seasonal cookies from the box - or if you are especially talented it might mean cut out cookies iced with fall designs.

You can also use common household items to make a salt dough for figurines such as pumpkins, scarecrows, etc.

A bowl of pinecones collected from outside could look beautiful in an entryway.

String lights and unscented candles make for a nice touch as well.

Gourds but actually eat them before they get funky.

I use table linens to change the look of my space seasonally. They are reusable each year and take up a small amount of space folded away.

Long time lurker, first time commenter.

If it is legal in your state, you can cut local wildflowers for arrangements. The road outside of our subdivision has flowers from basically March through November and many of the ladies in my neighborhood cut them for arrangements. Make sure to wash them to remove any bugs. Please make sure you are familiar with any local plants that could be toxic to kids/pets (i.e. Queen Anne's Lace). Large mason jars make lovely vases.

Alternatively, gather pretty leaves before they are too dried and use them to loosely fill a mason jar or vase. Pine cones are also pretty in vases/bowls.

As someone said above, squashes/gourds. I make a ton of squash soups in the fall so my food does double duty as decor.

Orange ribbons can be added to your current decor for little pops of the season. Similarly, table runners can be knocked together in no time at all by even the most novice sewers. There's often remnant fabric on sale at Joann's for pretty cheap.

If you have a Lidl in your area, the center aisles always have seasonal decor for very cheap.
