This is so key! Both genders can have a positive effect on one another but the importance of the underlying system that allows the genders to have this effect can't be ignored. In many circles women get too much credit for the civilizing effects of Western patriarchal systems. Without the laws, customs, social pressures, etc. women act differently and reward different behavior. This is something we see very clearly today; most women strive to live up to the norms of the day.

I also liked another comment that explained how women can't civilize men, only men can turn themselves into men, and men can turn other men into men (fathers, drill sergeants, etc.). Completely agree with this idea as well!

n other words, the lament about the Peter Pan man-boys not desiring to achieve much in life, because there’s no reward for them in marriage, or the women are not choosing them, so therefore they don’t try too hard to better themselves, and this is understandable. In way then, this is saying that being able to get a nice female is a reason why young men would want to improve themselves or to become providers and have all the resources they need, instead of living at home with their parents and playing video games.

He said it right there. The men want a woman and therefore improve themselves... women have nothing to do with this besides simply existing, or possibly a specific woman being worth that man’s effort.

Somewhere I heard that “men leave women because they changed, and women leave men because they never changed.” I find this interesting and accurate in what I’ve observed, which is why it pays to have a red pill approach. Find a man you admire and respect, who you love today, whose approach to life you find amazing. Be a woman of value. Be honest from the start about where you’re headed, what isn’t set in stone for you. With this approach there isn’t the need to “change your man”. People adapt and develop new habits and even values but they don’t become new people. IMO. And that may sound defeatists but it’s actually rather inspiring and peaceful.
