I've recently started a gratitude journal and try to make sure I write in it daily. It has helped me end my days with positive reflection.

Gratitude is not like the shade of sunglasses that guards against the intensity of light. Rather, it is like the neck that turns your head in the other direction so that you can look at something less damaging. This is not the same as ignoring a problem.

Especially the last sentence. It can be easy, especially when we are feeling worn down and demoralized, to forget what amazing forces of influence we are and what our attitudes allow us to accomplish. This is a perfect reminder that while we cannot control if and when, or by whom, we are hurt...we can always control our outlook and use it to our advantage, and to add to the happiness of those around us <3
