Hi!
I am looking for advice. How do you prevent your brain from creating anxious scenarios about your relationship or dating circumstances or commitment with another person?
I am dating my dream guy. This terrifies me though, because I really don't want to lose him. Our circumstances are a bit difficult from your typical relationship: we are currently long distance, which I know isn't a favorite topic on this sub. But in April, we will be living in the same city again.
I am already quite a "day dreamer" as it is. I always find myself creating up grand scenarios in my mind about many areas in my life. I just have always liked thinking of the absolute perfect ending to a goal I've set. Unfortunately, when I think of how happy I'll be in March, I have found myself thinking up all the imaginary circumstances that could end our relationship too. I just want to stop doing this. My anxiety is literally ruining all the good I am currently experiencing and all the good that I could imagine for us as well.
These "scenarios" are solely about circumstances outside my control- me or him getting a dream job offer in a city far away that the other one wouldn't be able to move to, or him meeting his absolute dream girl and realizing he wants to be with her instead of me. Even as I type it out now, I realize how silly it all is, but my imagination does not stop.
I would love any advice or "tough love" on how to stop this. I just want to be able to enjoy all the good now. I don't want my anxieties to be the reason this relationship doesn't work.
