Same. We did a small ceremony with parents, some siblings, and a couple local valued friends. Highly reccomend.

Still planning the larger reception at a later date.... I had some people tell me they knew folks who said they were going to split ceremony and reception, and then just never had the reception. I don't want to be like that as I do want to give everyone who values us an opportunity to celebrate with us.

Ironically, my husband and I MET at the separated reception (family-only ceremony had been 6 months earlier) of some mutual friends.

My man’s cousin had a small courthouse wedding in the country where she was living at the time with her husband during 2020, then had a HUGE wedding reception a year later in 2021. It was a covid wedding, but I don’t see why it would be unfathomable to do now!
