The reason a “juice cleanse” feels so good is because you’re consuming stupid amounts of sugar. People who drink Monsters and 5-hour energy will feel the same “good” energy.

Juice is garbage. Even the all natural “healthy” juice is garbage. And your body doesn’t need to be “cleansed.” Your liver does a fine job of detoxifying your body. There’s no such thing as “cleansing out the pipes” when you fast. There’s no toxic material sitting in your digestive system just waiting to be cleared out with the food version of Drano.

Practice intermittent fasting. When you do eat, focus on whole foods. Juice is high in sugar (whether it be added cane sugar or the natural sugars found in fruit).

I’ve very pro r/fasting and r/intermittentfasting and I do it daily. I personally don’t think the sugar in juice cleanses are for me.

I’ve done a “juice cleanse” from a book aimed at weight-loss through ph balance in the body. It was more like smoothies. I made my own out of veggies (blended up to keep the fiber) and did it for two weeks. No added sugar or sugary fruit or anything. It was heavily focused on veggies and healthy fats (avocado, coconut milk, etc). It was meant to be a reset and not something to do long term.

I felt that it did help me reset my gut, body and metabolism. After I completed it, I ate healthier foods and exercised daily, and I was able to lose around 20lbs. It’s a continuous process, and juice cleanses are controversial for a reason, but I think if done right it can be beneficial. But it’s only a tool in our toolbelt for looking and feeling healthy. It’s just one fragment of an overall picture, eating healthy and exercising are huge components.

oh yeah, did a 3-day juice cleanse with mostly green juices and it was refreshing. felt so energized after. really helped me reset after some junk food binging. highly recommend it!
