Long distance relationship

Communicate, communicate, communicate. I would argue that it's even more important than in not LDR because you're not face-to-face as much. Whether it's texting, facetime/skype, or having a phone call. They phone call doesn't have to be long either, just hearing the other person's voice I feel is key. I would say try not to say "I miss you" too too much. I'm super guilty of this and there's nothing we can do about it, and only leads to sad feels. We just have to let time pass until we can see each other again. It's definitely hard at the start.

Having one of his t-shirts with you in your drawer at home is nice too. Mine gives me his band t-shirts that don't fit him anymore (we like the same bands so it works) and it's just so wonderful to have in bed with me as I'm falling asleep.

I also like finding new things to bake for him each time I see him.

Stay busy, do something productive, take a class (cooking, sewing, painting) and show him what you've made. He wants you to be happy too! Leaving is hard, this is your chance to show him how strong you are.

My husband and I are temporarily in an LDR. We schedule time to watch TV or listen to podcasts together (or separately but at the same time, texting each other). It's always really nice! We also eat dinner together some days, with our computers open on Skype in front of us.

Something I do when my partner has to be away for work usually for a month at a time is I send him one of my scarves with his favorite perfume on it and a small love note. I know it doesn't sound like much but it is something tangible that smells like you that he will probably adore. It's been a year since I did that last and he still has the note I sent him in his desk drawer. He still smiles when I wear that particular scarf around him.

Sort of off topic because it doesn’t relate to the relationship itself, but you can def use these next 6 months to emotionally prepare for the move (and job hunt, if that’s in the cards for you). I moved to end a multi-year LDR with my BF and it was the most emotionally vulnerable thing I’ve done. Even with a job waiting for me and a conversation about when the proposal was happening, it was terrifying (‘what if things don’t work out?!’). This is your right me to be the best you can be and objectively evaluate the relationship as the honeymoon fades.
