Men not marrying? How deep does "the problem" go?

It is interesting to me that men not wanting to marry doesn't become a "problem" until it inconveniences women who want a husband.

It's almost as if our culture's definition of the word "problem" is "something that makes women unhappy".

There was a study done with mice.

A man took a huge space (huge for rats anyway) and filled it with everything they needed. All of their basic needs were catered to in abundance. Of course, the mice multiplied rapidly... until... about day 600 or so.

At that point, the men basically stopped doing what men generally were supposed to do to propagate the species. Instead, they kept to themselves, after all, all their other basic needs were met. I'm paraphrasing madly, and not even including what happened to the females because I can't remember.

So, the analogy goes that in a society like ours, where more and more men are refusing to marry, for very transparent reasons when you look at them clearly, civilization will not survive. I've seen it said that the entire reason the world spins is because men need to build things to attract women and provide for their families. We can only get so far on the former.

Those sci-fi movies where we procreate without sex are probably not far from the truth. In those movies it's presented as some futuristic convenience... however, after learning of that study, I'd suggest that such fantasies stem from the necessity to increase our workforce/productivity so as to continue to the growth of civilization.

It bothers me when people complain about men that don't "man up" and get married, i.e. responsibly provide for a wife, put her first, remain faithful. I feel annoyed because women are never told to "woman up" in any way. It is assumed that women, in general, are doing everything right. But the women I see are not attractive wife material. Men don't want to marry because there is nothing in it for them.

I would say that there is a problem with men not being marriageable, but there's an equal problem with women. Marriage (the traditional form) has a certain structure: the man is the leader and provider, and the woman is the nurturer and helper. The man commits himself to a woman for life when she promises to serve him and follow him.

Today, men are expected to fulfill the traditional husband role, but women are now free to do whatever they want. The idea of obeying a husband is craziness to modern women. I don't think there will be any solutions until people start talking about how women are falling short as well.

I don't see a problem with men not wanting to get married. It's his life! If he doesn't want to get married then he shouldn't have to! And if ~~ladies~~ women want to be sluts, then fine. Let them be sluts. You can do what ever you want. But there are consequences. The consequence with being a slut is that you have less likelihood of getting married. The consequence of a man not marrying is no one to grow old with.

On the other side of that coin are ladies who choose to be wife material and men who want to get married. They have consequences too. The ladies experience a higher than average chance of getting married and the men have a higher than average chance of growing old with someone.

And /u/Whisper is right, women don't seem to think MGTOW or being a slut is a problem until they can't find a husband.
