I am in a one way open relationship. Mr. Man and I have been together 2.5 years and he's had two other girlfriends besides me in that time. His first girlfriend was also a friend of mine, at first the jealousy and insecurity ran rampant. There was one point where I contemplated breaking up with him. But he's the best, and I went to what Dan Savage says about the "price of admission" you're willing to pay to be with someone. So I had to ask myself if I was willing to pay this price of admission to be with Mr. Man, and that answer was yes. So I had some hard emotional hurdles to overcome, but Mr. Man always stayed consistent with me and made me feel loved. We ended up having a threesome with that first girlfriend (I am bi), and it was a great experience for all of us.

After things ended with her, a few months went by where we were monogamous. Then he decided he wanted to date again and he met a plate, but I told him I didn't want to know a thing about her: her name, where she lived, when he saw her, nothing. That seemed to work better for us, because with girlfriend #1 I always knew when he was with her, and I would drive myself crazy being in my head a lot. Not knowing when he was with plate #2 worked much better for us.

The benefits for me is that when he has a side piece, he is more affectionate with me and he seems to appreciate the relationship more. I get more of the warm fuzzies.

I know Mr. Man is non monogamous. I accept this about him. Do I get jealous and insecure once in a while? Definitely. That won't go away. But a good captain who knows how to handle his woman and can let her be herself and make her feel loved, a one way open relationship can definitely work.

The reason I stick around is because I of course love him like crazy, he's the best thing that ever happened to me. And we make good partners. Him having some strange every once in a while doesn't take anything away from what we have. And you never know, maybe someday he'll meet someone we can both bang ;)

Wow, that first list is full of terrible reasoning. "If you don't let your man sleep around you're selfish and jealous and mistrustful and hampering his happiness, which obviously matters more than yours." Seriously? Being RPW doesn't have to mean you value him at 100 and yourself at 0. And trying to use an argument of "But doesn't he deserve more kiiiids?" just misses the mark so thoroughly. Kids benefit the most from having stable fathers in their lives, not ones that treat their family as secondary to their own desires. Besides, letting him "breed" with other women puts the home woman's children's in direct competition with his other women's children for his attention and resources.

I could go on about dissecting the reasons provided but to sum up, the only valid ones I see are if she doesn't care, and if she wants to participate in threesomes. All the rest are just nonsense or false moralizing. Relationships take sacrifice on both ends, not just one. If women are truly happy in this kind of relationship good for them, but I doubt it'd be commonplace.

I have no interest in male cucks, and I don't attract men who want open relationships. The more partners you add to a relationship, the more potential for conflicts and inevitable drama, not to mention a higher risk of diseases.

Open relationships are also not "cheating". Cheating involves lying and betrayal of trust. Agreeing to an open relationship is a decision based on mutual consent.

I also don't care how many "progressive" articles tell me that monogamy is "unnatural". Not going to convince me in this lifetime. I don't even eat organic food, and I avoid a lot of "natural ingredients" in skincare because they make my skin react badly.
