don't know how old you are or how he is but it has been my experience with guys that if he is interested he will pursue, pursue, pursue aggressively. His interest sounds kind of lukewarm so I would def not invite him to something as big as a birthday dinner with friends.

I mean you've only been on what one date? Two? That's not much.

1) you might need more interesting/conversation generating responses to his questions. You might be boring and thus not worth the response. If he's not an avid texter, you'll have to entice him to be so.

2) be prepared for him to bail. Don't put all your eggs in that basket. He may be trying to show lack of interest on purpose to do exactly this, to get you interested and such. Regular redpill advocates not having conversations with women over text.

3) I would probably try to go on another one on one date before inviting him to meet my friends.

In general...if you feel like something is amiss, you're probably not wrong. If you have to hamster to justify some dude's behavior...it's probably the most obvious answer.

Men don't text the way women do. I wouldn't read a lot into that. Some less outgoing guys may feel intimidated by going to a party or get together where he doesn't know anyone, other people would be fine with it. It's really an individual thing.

In my experience, if he's texting you less that means he's met someone else that is occupying his time and energy.

I don't think there is a default setting for how many texts are "normal" in a relationship. I'd say if you just met a guy, but he made the effort to keep in contact with you while he was away on business, that's a good sign. He may have been very busy when he got home.

I don't see anything wrong with inviting him to the party, either, especially if your friends aren't the type to embarrass you, lol. As the relationship progresses, you'll naturally get to know each other's social circles, right? No need to make a big deal of it; just say, "Are you free tonight? My friend is having a birthday party; I'm invited and can bring a guest. Wanna come?" BTW, I'd do this in a phone call, not a text. If he panics at the idea of meeting your friends, you'll be able to pick up on this much better over the phone than in a text, lol.

Keep things casual and don't invest too much at this stage.

It can be normal for electronic communication to slow down at some point. Maybe he doesn't like texting all that much, and he was just doing it after the first date because he wasn't as comfortable around you and felt like ge needed to make more of an effort . After the business trip maybe he saw that you felt comfortable with minimal texting so he stuck with it. Really its very early days, and I dont know if this is the case or not. It's all well and good trying to guess his behavior but only time will tell.

I have to say I don't like the aspect of people being constantly available on their phones and on social media. It puts pressure on all of us to respond to people 24 hours a day and often times we just need our own space. I know I wouldn't want to be texting a man all day. When me and my DH were dating we only really texted each other to arrange to meet. I have fallen out with friends because I dont want to small talk with them over Facebook messenger every day or I will read their message and take hours to respond simply because I don't feel in the mood to talk.
