I think it depends on his personality and preferences.

My husband usually likes his space when he has a lot going or he's under stress for some reason. Last week I ordered food he liked, left him a sweet note, then went out for a few hours so he had the house to himself to relax. Later on he fell asleep while I gave him a back rub. Simple stuff but I think he appreciated it.

Sometimes I will ask directly if there's anything I can do to help or how I can make his day better too.

I'd say most of all: Be understanding of his situation and support him for wanting to improve his life. If I had a dollar for every post (not necessarily on this sub) where the woman says, "My boyfriend/fiancé is working and now going back to school too, I'm just so sad that he spends a little less time with me" I'd have a lot of dollars.

Something I really appreciate when I'm overwhelmed with school is when my roommate cleans the apartment or when my friends bring me something to eat. :) Taking care of the day-to-day stuff so that your boyfriend can focus on his GRE would be an excellent way to support him!

A clean, distraction free home while he’s studying. My hubs likes to snack while he’s studying, so maybe pick up or make his favorite treats.

For after the test, a celebration meal. “Congrats you’re done!”. Something classic, but slightly over the top.

This is super silly but you know how some people just HAVE to work at a coffee shop, not in their own house? (Understandable, a change of environment can help you focus)

My local coffee shops get ridiculously crowded and sometimes it literally feels like fighting over table space and outlets. A friend of mine once went to a coffee shop ahead of time and literally squatted a table for me.

I took the GRE this summer while living with my SO! He’s very good at math and sat with me for hours helping out with last minute preparations. For the day of; pack him some light snacks he can munch on during the break. Perhaps offer him a ride? I had to drive a long way for mine and I was nervous driving just because of exam stress. Also, he took me out to a fun hibachi dinner after so we got to see a bit of a ‘show’! It’s nice because with the GRE you can see your scores right afterward.
