She sounds like an alcoholic who needs to curb stress with wine. A glass at night is healthy for your heart and anti aging benefits a bottle a night is sad.

I only read half the article. It's way too long for me to read the whole thing, but I get the gist of it.

What struck me more than the low key alcoholism is the sheer level of pampering that has become the default for many western women. Let's just appreciate this for a moment - daily wine is part of a mother's routine. That's an incredibly expensive luxury. Considering that most men earn more than their wives, this spoiling is being financed by the husbands. Unfortunately, this is often done to keep the peace and not always because he really wants to spend all that money or can afford it.

I usually have coffee at home or in the office, but today I was falling on my face while driving around from client to client in the afternoon sun so I stopped by a Starbucks for a plain black coffee. What I saw there was a packed shop, packed with women buying expensive drinks. I didn't realize how expensive these drinks can get.... More than $9 for a cup of specialized nonsense. Who pays for all this is what I'm wondering?

Not even just moms. My old housemates loved to drink wine all the time to feel adult, or something.

My grandma drinks wine like its cough syrup each day. She has a miniature old fashioned wine glass she pours her wine into and drinks that for good health. She tries to do it every day for her heart and brain but she often skips it.

Thats a sharp contrast to the article. I don't want to entirely demonize wine but the level its drunk in the article is pretty bad.

I'm actually trying to drink more wine for health. My goal would be a 3 ounces of high tannin red wine every other day with dinner but I usually end up just drinking a sip (from my bf's glass) once a month.
