When my sister was in college, my mother always told her "you are responsible for yourself, don't put yourself into a situation in which anything bad might happen to you". I.e. Don't get shitface drunk at parties.

At my college orientation the police chief said "all crime is a crime of opportunity, so don't give them the opportunity" and not a minute later he said "there is nothing you can do to avoid being raped."

So, apparently it's not giving someone the opportunity by passing out drunk in a dark little room at a party.

When you self-define "sexually assaulted" to include many now politically "correct" (on campus) "assault" types, and then tune a program to that, it's almost a certainty they could report "reduced risk". Just define risk as whatever they are doing now.

Avoiding rape in many cases (certainly not all) is common sense. Many times it's in college and many times it includes excessive amounts of alcohol.

If you get blackout drunk at age 18/19 at a random place and don't know where you are, bad shit can happen.

Also, what's up with the girl in the article that was at a party at age 16, got excessively drunk and then agreed to have a boy drive her home. That's just setting yourself up. Plus, what the fuck are you doing at age 16 doing that? I'm not a alcohol prude, but can't you at least wait until you get to college?

Seems like common sense to me. Don't get stupid drunk and people will be less likely to take advantage of you.

I wonder how often a woman had to use any of their learned defensive techniques to avoid being raped. If she's shitfaced, then she'll be too drunk to utilize them. If she is sober or tipsy, she won't need to use them at all.

Women need to be taught that the world isn't made for princesses and everyone around isn't there to help them. Some people are just shitty and they should learn to act accordingly to this reality.

This is the tl;dr of this article and the program at large. Feminism convinces women that they are victims. The reason this post is upvoted as much as it is here on TRP is because we support women taking responsibility for their actions and their safety (who wouldn't?). But principle and effect are two completely different things and I can nearly guarantee this program is wrought with fear mongering, the demonization of male sexuality, and the shaming of female sexuality.

Women should be able to enjoy being chased by guys. No one is saying that legitimate rape is not horrible. But the likely result of this program as far as I can assume is that young women everywhere will be institutionalized into fearing the very normal behavior of the natural human sexual dynamic (girl makes herself the most attractive she can, guy pursues most attractive girl he can get)

Guys are going to try to fuck girls. Period. Girls will be pursued by guys. But as soon as we start teaching our girls (and the article said they'd start teaching this shit in MIDDLE school... that's 10-13 years old) that every possible guy friend trying to hit on her is a rapist, that they are actually being raped if they're drunk, that it is shameful to be pursued, and that sexual contact should be so readily associated with violation-- is when we have a bunch of broken, falsely traumatized women on our hands.

There will be some serious cognitive dissonance going on when their conscious minds are constantly fearing the men in their lives but their unconscious minds are lusting hardcore to be overtaken and dominated.

Feminism should have gone as far to bring women to an equal legal standing as men and then just fucking stopped. It was a good thing that women were able to feel and appreciate men's power (on an individual level). But now that feminism has insisted that it is wrong for a woman to happily submit to a man, relationships are impossible to maintain unless you've found a woman who is actually capable of recognizing and accepting what she wants in life.

I mentioned this in one of those subs that posted the penn state fraternity posting pictures of women. All I said was that maybe we can advise women that passing out in a fraternity chapter room surrounded by unknown people is a bad idea. Just a simple education program. Like we have with EVERYTHING else like sex health and avoiding violence. I was ripped apart and even had one woman post "Oh, so I have to watch how much I drink now because of you men?" Like what the fuck? Yea, you do. Just like I do! You should always watch yourself in every situation. I don't park my car on the corner of Martin Luther King Drive and Malcom X Drive with my laptop on my passenger seat and my doors unlocked because "I shouldn't have to worry" I do it because those situations increase the chances of getting robbed. It's baffling the lack of responsibility some women want to take. I think this all stems from their entitlement. They have been handed things and given passes simply for being women. This is one area of their lives where being a women is a disadvantage (with sexual assaults). They feel that yet again they should not have to be responsible for their actions and the world or some other external influence should be solely responsible for their safety because they are a woman.

No man would drunkenly pass out in a strange place where a majority of the people are strangers and then wake up without his wallet and blame everyone but himself. In fact his first reaction would be to blame himself. Now, I am not saying rape and having a wallet stolen are comparable. But the concept is similar.

it is good that the rape rates went down. i am angry that this has been obstructed by feminists in the past, as it was completely hypocritical to both decry rape and yet refuse to use methods that would reduce rape rates. yes the rapist is at fault, but if more women made their intentions clearer i am sure some of the "grey zone" in rapes would go away. there is no good reason for a rape to occur without the rapists knowledge imo. (ie if you don't know you are raping someone than you are not raping them).

Whenever I have an argument with a feminist about campus rape, I always ask a very simple question: What's different about the women that don't get raped from the women that do? The feminist always responds: Rape is about the rapist, not the victim. Then I counter with: But, women can reduce the likelihood of being raped to almost 0% of they want to, so don't they have some obligation, some responsibility? To which the feminist responds "no."
