Go 3 times a week the first 2 weeks then go every day if you are able. Start counting your calories, half the work is done in the kitchen. Only drink water and take a bottle with you to the gym, most other drinks are full of sugar and its not that hard to drop them and switch them for water. Try to get 1.3 grams of protein for every kg of bodyweight, youll need it to build muscle, buying protein shakes is an easy way to get those. Just go for it, get the gym membership asap, no excuses. You gain and lose weight coumting calories. More than your tdee you gain, less you lose. You can recomp by doing weekly bulk and cut cycles. You gain muscle by lifting.

If your bf is over 15%, cut to 10/12. If your skelly mantain/lean bulk.

More than that I start charging for my services.

First thing your gonna wanna do is I dentist your body type, which will help you indent oft a plan for you.
When you start just use the bar or the smallest Dumbbells, much better to to proper ones on low weight than a high weight doing it terribly.

Lose the fluff first. Look up Power Hypertrophy Adaptive Training by Layne Norton, track your calories and eat slightly less than your maintenance calories. Tweak as needed

First of all, measure your wrists and ankles - this lets you know what your genetic potential is outside of bloodwork
next write down what your food intake is for one week
start with a basic exercise routine - something simple but easy to maintain like push/pull routine 2 day split with 3 days off
after a month, write down your food intake for the week and see if you are eating more or less, and by what type of foods Compare to previous

Generally, establish a benchmark, start a routine, and go from there. After 6 months, come back and ask about more advanced routines. The hardest part of starting, is actually being consistent. If you can't do that, no amount of advice regarding routines or diet will matter

If I were to start now: I'd learn the four basic compound lifts - bench press, squad, deadlift, and military press. Cut out garbage foods from diet. Do a stronglift (three compound lifts, three times per week) program for three months. Then with intermediate shoulder, chest, back, and leg strength - I'd start moving into isolation exercises.

If you want to lose fat a bit quicker just put yourself on a caloric deficit. IMO 200lbs at 6ft isn't huge, so I'd just start lifting and see what happens. Watch form videos on youtube.

for real, go to the gym. working out at home is not a good idea, because you're likely to feel comfortable and rest periods will be long. showing up is literally the toughest part.

I'm a gym veteran, and a member of 1000 pound club and thensome. Do lots of compound exercises. Pick 1 exercise for that body part and focus on that exercise for at least six weeks. Back and legs pay the biggest in size gains not chest arms and shoulders which is what noobs focus on. To show muscle development and size get stronger in the 12 to 20 rep range. Keep track of your 12 to 20 rep maxes and your regular maxes. Don't chase the wrong numbers, there are Olympic weightlifters who can throw 400 pounds up and they don't look bigger than the average guy. Your 1 rep max is more dependent on neural skill than muscle size. Look at NFL football players with a chest like a canoe who have a huge bench max and can do 225 for 20 plus reps. It's the endurance that makes you bigger. Another important thing keep a training journal and get a training partner(s) preferably who is stronger than you, make friends with anyone you can.

Sometimes it's hard to know where to start. I had this problem. Before you go, outline where exactly you want to burn your fat. For your first day, try focusing on that area. If you want to get rid of belly fat, do ab exercises. Want to get rid of dangly arm fat? Focus on your arms (though since you're about 6 feet and 203 lbs I don't think that would be too much of an issue for you). Definitely ask for advice, though. "Gym bros" generally stick out for each other.
