I woke up this morning, had sex with my wife. Then she made breakfast while I played guitar and our two boys played together.

I make sure our accounts are paid and she always has $1000 in a joint account she can use that I earn. She is frugal and usually never spends half that. She does most of the chores and watches our boys. I do our banking and arrange all our appointments. I usually relax while she works and vice versa, and she sometimes has trouble seeing that, but she's used to it now.

My boys are playing together in the other room. They play well together, and know that if they step out of line that I'm the one they deal with. If they need a hug, they ask mom. If mom asks them to do something and they don't listen, I sometimes get angry. They know there are degrees of that, and it depends on what they do.

My wife knows I will only hit her if she hits first. This has never happened. She knows that if she's a bitch when we're driving, she can walk home. This has happened once. If I'm being a serious asshole, she can ask me to leave and I will. From that foundation, we've been together for 8 years.

We've been wealthy, poor, and climbing back up again. We've lived in 4 cities and 2 countries. I've had a major career change. She had a cancer scare once. We've had a miscarriage, and 2 boys.

We both realize that we get attracted to other things, but we both 'eat at home'.

We're both in our mid-thirties now. I suspect if we make it another 5 years, we'll make it the rest.
