Here's my advice for Facebook:

Leave the account open, and never use it. Only use it to say thank you when people wish you happy birthday.

Make your profile picture the best looking picture of you being successful. If you are not good looking or successful, get to a gym, or become successful in something and update when the time comes.

That's it. Fuck the rest of it.

EDIT:

SUMMARY - Leave Facebook on, don't use it unless it's for networking your successful business or to say thank you on an annual basis.

I feel like that's great advice for the general population, really. And I keep wondering if I'm making a mistake by not following it. The thing is, I have a talent for writing, and I am an amateur comedian, and I try to use my Facebook posts as some kind of demonstration of higher value. It also helps that I'm my own boss.

Anybody have an opinion on this?

If I was you, I'd spend time building a random following on twitter and use that place to test things out. Your bad jokes will get burried quickly. But when you see comments, retweets and favorites, you know you've got something... Then take the winners, the 1 in 100 jokes to FB and post them there. If you post the bad stuff on FB you will annoy your actual friends and FB will bury your posts because no one likes you... Literally.

I agree with /u/Glenbert, Twitter is so much better for developing your comedic chops. Facebook I would just use to network with other comics in your local area to try to get spots. Best of luck mate.

This is EXACTLY what I ended up doing independently.

Also, never ever add any girl you've met and are interested in on facebook.

Her: "Excited!"

Him: "Fuck."

Yeah, but what's funny is, I've known several attractive women in real life who post that kind of stuff on facebook. So often they mean the same thing as the guy when he posts "Fuck". When they're actually excited they don't post, but when they're trying to be excited they post how great their life is and how amazing things are for them.

It's seriously weird. I have to find an attractive girl who's regularly gushing on facebook about her relationship who's actually happy with her relationship. The last one got engadged, got married, all the while strongly hinting at how dissatisfied she was with the guy, then after having a kid propositioned me. It's just bizarre.

Who cares? Winners don't care what women write on a wall that doesn't exist in real life.

I got rid of Facebook months ago.

Between the millions of baby pictures, the showing off, the humble bragging and the false impressions people give off about their lives and the constant attention whoring, validation seeking and vague-booking - it's a waste of time.

I keep in contact with the people that matter with my phone.

I've actually had a few girls curiously ask me why I deleted it with a bit of interest, presumably because they assume I have better things to do (which I do) and they can't "check up on me".

Interesting.

Brings up the question of how much social media is doing to strengthen gender stereotypes.

E.g. Girls interested in traditionally "girly things" will look for one thing they're interested in, such as "adorable" baby pics, and end up also looking at other traditionally "girly things", like "shopping" or "shoes", by association / clustered results.

Now that you've said this it's only a matter if time before facebook bans gender congruent posting. The fymynysts have to protect themselves from all that facebook patriarchy that been oppressing them for millennial...oh wait...

This is good shit, but I'm having trouble drawing the linkage to red pill.

I'm commenting because I found this study's results quite hilarious when I read over it with my brother a few months ago. Very cool to see the differences amongst age groups.

I used the "off-topic" flair. And I agree with you.

It just kinda felt right for the sub. IDK.

Look at the language of emotional stability: "success", "workout".
