I was shopping yesterday and I walked past a guy roughly my age (24), he might have even been slightly younger, with 3-4 kids in tow and a wife that probably used to be hot but had already put on the token 10-15lb.

Fuck that noise. Losing yourself in a relationship comes from indulging your captain save-a-ho instincts. It's not an inevitability of being in a relationship.

I say go for it when you're young. From my own experience I can say that I was garbage in bed till my first LTR. And for everyone outside the top 1% genetic lottery winners an LTR is a better way to get laid at that stage in life.

Through your early twenties you haven't had a chance to amass the kind of power it takes for a man to become a stud. If you don't sell in the SMP on AF, advertise some BB. Not money or cry-on-your-shoulder BB, but 'I packed a six pack and two sandwiches let's hike up that mountain' sort of bucks.

What I'm saying is there's no need to fear the LTR. Hold some damn frame son. And you'll be fine.

I had a few LTRs in my late teens that taught me good game by the time I was 20. Half of me obviously looks at teenage relationships like the stupid pointless and overdramatic things they are, but the other is glad for the first hand experience and what it taught me, because that's more valuable than reading about theory at the end of the day as long as you learn from it.

For example it's all very well reading about how women like a man to be dominant, but if you have no real world experience then you have no frame of reference for this information - it's pretty much meaningless to you. But I can look through those past relationships and see very clearly in retrospect how not knowing this rule fucked me over and use that experience to ensure I won't repeat my mistakes.

It's not about LTR. It's about oneitis really. Oneitis will fuck you up. LTR on its own is just that - LTR. A choice to have something more than sex with a woman. You can get a lot of good lessons in an LTR as well. You can MLTR as well.

Long term relationships teach you so much about yourself that not doing them is just stupid. I have plenty of buddies that have never been in a relationship and there still kids. The guys that did find a cool girl to settle down with for atleast a while are much more mature and comfortable with themselves.

Doing a LTR when young may turn out to be good. Helps some men realize what dealing with a women for a long time can really amount too.

My Older brother always had girlfriends and lived with them when he was out of high school. I thought that was the way to go. When I was 25 I lived with a girlfriend for the first time. Lasted 2 years, helped me realize I do not want to live with a girlfriend again.

my last LTR fucked me up so bad. I had a feeling she was seeing other men but I didn't want to recognize that. Worst feeling in the world when she is the one controlling the situation and you feel helpless because you depend on her now and there's nothing you can do because you actually developed real fucking feelings for this person. in addition, you start to feel guilty because you start to think that you've done something wrong. don't know man. over time when you're with one girl only and you start to love, at least that's how I am, I become super insecure and beta. I am aware of that and it always destroys my relationships. i feel like i cannot show a woman that side ever again, i would need to keep it to myself and show her differently, but not become insecure and ask her about the status of our relationship and be the one who is scared of a breakup. when women feel that you're insecure, they are not at ease anymore. they get distant because they don't know how to deal with a pussy of a man because that's not how nature intended a man to be.

I think my experience is different, I come from a more comfortable background and got to do a lot of what I wanted in my early 20s because of having little limits on spending. I got my count pretty high before I realized I was tired of just fucking and found a girl with a similar background from a religiously conservative family. So far its been going good and molding her has been no problem.

Being in a LTR when you're young, you're left thinking man I wonder if there's something better out there. Or you think man I wonder if this is all a waste of time.

A lot of my friends act all happy to be taken, but just like dudes in marriages, you get them drinking and they'll let you know that they really aren't happy.

A lot of them wonder if it's a waste. They miss crazy sex with random girls and one night stands with less mind games.

Seems to me the only thing they ever enjoy in a LTR over plates is consistent sex. But you can get that from plates. Just get a better smv.

LTRed through high school (3 years), college (4 years), then a third time out of college for another 3 years. All different girls. Never played the field.

The good: It brought me here. Without those experiences and horrible breakups, I may have just slept around through my 20's and latched onto the first half decent girl I met out of college and gotten married.

The bad: I didn't play the field, especially in college. Some regret there.

Overall, it is what it is at this point and I'm going to embrace the next 10 years of my life up to my prime. Fortunately I've positioned myself well in terms of a career, finances, and even looks if I'd bulk up a bit.

Can't stress this any more than OP did. Knowing the truth about relationships is one thing, but to be cognizant of these emotions when in the haze of courtship (and ultimately overcome them) is extremely difficult (particularly for young guys). Oneitis will cripple you, and extinguish the gem-like flame of male brilliance within your heart.

I'm young, under 18 to be exact... and I think this is a pretty big deal. I do agree to an extent... I really do want the right woman but I don't know how to find that, so how do you have something above a casual relationship but not LTR?
