You aren't comfortable enough with yourself if you let criticism from others affect you. People are going to give you grief for not following the role you were groomed to fill.

Just don't do it. You'll lose some people, yes, but you also won't be saddled with unnatural social baggage you don't want. If, for whatever reason, you WANT to get married, go for it. If you don't, then don't.

Then if you can answer that question, here's a follow up: What benefits will I receive from a marriage I don't already receive from the relationship beforehand?

Chances are you can't answer it, because I know I can't. There's just no real point. All your doing is signing over 50% of your assets to someone you will most likely end up hating one day. If your LTR can't see the logic behind not getting married (she knows why she really wants to get married and protip: It's not love) then she's not marriage material anyways.

Tell them you'll get married once you found a unicorn.

Just don't call it unicorn, but say something along the lines of "attractive, kind, smart, lucid, dependable, loyal etc." and then just mention that you didn't find her yet.

If they tell you to lower your expectations, make some offhanded comments about the skewed divorce rulings these days and that you wouldn't risk half your stuff on some gamble.

Tell them you're not interested in a broken system of marriage. It's a losing proposition unless you're interested in having kids. That and some tax benefits. That's about it. Still, the risks outweigh the benefits, so nahhhhh.
