Do NOT follow this guy's advice. There are many states where this will NOT work and many situations where this will not work. A properly motivated attorney on the other side could very easily crush this guy and separate him from the stack of cash that he is so proud of.

The problem is men almost never start the divorce process. What is the best plan? Maybe quit working as soon as you find out she filed. Turn as many assets into cash as possible. As long as frivorce rewards hamsters they are going to take the money and run.

Chapter 7 has a means test, if you make under the average income you pass period above it you go through the means test where you see if you have enough money after monthly expenses to pay down a portion of your debits.

I thought you still had to pay back your debt after filing bankruptcy, you just didn't have to pay any further interest on it?

To my understanding... With chapter 13 they work out a 5 year payment plan. You pay back what they think you can afford for the next five years and then you're done! Free!
Even paying 1,000 per month for 5 years is only $60K.
It's not bad if you started off with something crazy like $300k in the hole at 15 or 20% annual interest. You'll might never be able pay that off.
