Summary: Discussion post centered around smoothing out some conflicts in RP theory. The critical question being 'How can a man in an LTR with an unjaded girl (young, 0-1 n-count, non-divorced parents, healthy home life and idealistic views) successfully maintain an abundance mentality when it is generally accepted as fact, that girls who are that good on paper are extremely rare in today's society.
Body: I'll start by quickly defining a couple of things in this post:
When I mention a girl's quality I'm not referring to her physical attractiveness as that's already implicit as soon as a 'successful' romantic relationship is mentioned. Instead I'm only referring to the abundance or lack of traits that make her desirable as an LTR prospect (Near 0 n-count, good upbringing from a cohesive and well functioning family...)
Secondly a 'paper unicorn' is referring to a girl who is perfect or near perfect on paper, with an abundance of the qualities listed above, and little to no red flags. Unicorns don't exist, all girls regardless of quality are still driven in part by the resultant instincts of a million years of evolution (Here I'd like to give a quick shout out to our friendly neighborhood blue-piller sitting alone in the corner). A girl's score on paper is an objective rating (either she's fucked several other guys or she hasn't, either her parents are divorced or they're not, either her Dad is someone she respects and admires or he left the family to fuck Sandra- the town's resident alpha widowed SJW). Because of the objectivity of the rating, there exists girls at the top of the scale- these are your paper unicorns. They may not be common but I imagine a successful RP man will date at least one in his life.
Onto the main point, that I'm hoping will trigger some solid discussion.
I feel like I'm more of a cynic than most TRP subscribers with regards to long term relationship success. We all hear about the statistic of roughly 50% of marriages ending in divorce, but that doesn't mean your odds of a good relationship are anywhere near that high. The 50% of men who are 'successful' in not getting their paychecks circumcised in the divorce court are hardly having the time of their lives at home, comfortably drifting through a passionate, sex-fuelled relationship held together by love and the sticky cement of their mutual ejaculate. Instead, all but a select few of the men who avoid divorce do so with a happy relationship. They live sexless lives with fattened wives, in a relationship that hasn't ended simply due to the apathy of the participants, rather than because of their success as men or romantic partners. Less than 1% of relationships that span into the very long term are happy ones, and it's possible (but very difficult to ever prove) that this figure is much lower still.
There are plenty of men in our community who would much like a successful, statistic defying LTR. For men with those aims, the two most important factors in determining whether the relationship will be successful, is the quality of the girl and most importantly the quality of the man himself. Both qualities have to be very high to ensure an actual tangible chance at a happy relationship in the long term. We can assume for the purposes of this post that every man reading this is already relentlessly working on that second determinant, so we can focus on the first instead (If you aren't one of the men working on improving yourself, this post isn't relevant to you, low value men can't have happy long-term relationships).
No man can make a housewife out of a ho, and for a relationship to be successful you really need to have a paper unicorn to even stand a chance. We're all familiar with Teachman's study showing that as a girl's n-count increases, the chance of divorce increases greatly as well, and likewise how multiple partners reduces a woman's ability to pair bond and increases her chance of infidelity. We all know the classic 'girl with daddy issues' stereotype, and how these are almost always the girls with the most red-flags. It's accepted among us here at TRP that high n-count girls or girls with familial problems guarantee a poor relationship, but what isn't necessarily addressed is just how few women in our society manage to exclude themselves from this group.
The chances of finding a girl with an n-count of 1 or less by the end of college is virtually nil. Our society glorifies female promiscuity in a way that's never really been experienced, and so many people are totally blind to the biological truth behind men desiring virtuous and good-natured girls (as opposed to 'bad ass bitches'). From my experience, even the most conservative girls are drawn into the hook-up culture by the time they're college age. When a girl's friends are all using apps like tinder and the girl herself is being constantly offered sex on tap from almost every guy she meets, it's not surprising that she succumbs into the role society has pushed her towards since puberty.
So far we've established two things.
- To have a successful long term relationship, the girl has to be a paper unicorn- with a near negligible n-count and solid values.
- Due to the nature of the society we live in, girls like this are very rare.
I mentioned at the start of this post that throughout his life a successful red-pill man will experience at least one girl who is a unicorn on paper, and therefore an ideal prospect for an LTR. The majority of the time, this will be when he is young and finds a girl before our wonderfully feminist world finds her. Of course I also imagine there are plenty of older and more successful guys dating younger girls for precisely this reason, but that is something which society (read as 'older post-wall women') seems to disapprove of, and because of this disapproval, with women caring a lot about what society thinks of them, I imagine there will be a slight negative impact on the relationship because of this, further decreasing the odds of a successful relationship.
And this, as well as the preceding summary brings us onto the main question. "If having a paper unicorn is necessary for a successful relationship and paper unicorns are themselves rare in society, how can a man maintain an abundance mentality in a relationship with one"
An abundance mentality is not a choice, it is a state of being. When a resource is abundant, its value decreases as per the laws of basic supply and demand. Similarly when a resource is scarce it's value increases accordingly. You can easily have an abundance mentality with women as they exist virtually everywhere, likewise attractive women are so common as to be a commodity. But everyday when TRP decries the feminist state of our society, and how unacceptable the vast majority of women are for LTRs, it's acknowledging the fact that relationship-worthy women are exceedingly rare. And when you become aware of this, it's very easy to slip into a scarcity mindset when you manage to beat the odds and find a relationship-worthy girl.
On a final note, I write this as I've personally seen plenty fall into the trap of letting their actions be moderated by an awareness of the scarcity of relationship-worthy girls. I hope the resulting discussion helps many people avoid this mistake.
It's not quite a FR talking about how I stuck my peen in 12 different holes on Tuesday. But regardless, I'm hoping this post triggers a useful discussion about TRP theory. I'm looking forward to seeing the community's thoughts and responses.
