I can honestly see this devolving into PurplePillDebate 2.0. Let that be a platform for anyone looking to debate Red Pill and Blue Pill ideologies and let their own mod team sort out their shortcomings.

I've always figured that if anyone wanted to discuss the merits and shortcomings of what we talk about here, they'd come here to say something. What do you think it means when there's an overwhelming silence from our detractors who are unwilling to come here to call us out?

As it stands, most people who come to /r/DebateRedPill to "debate" don't come to debate at all. They come for their own agenda which is exclusive of having an open mind, intent to learn about the other's side, and changing their mind if they are proven wrong. /r/DebateRedPill is the place where people who do have an open mind, are interested in learning, and are able to concede if the other side is right.

How is opening a new sub change this?

Bad debating will result in bad debate points being awarded to you, and incurring 3 of them will result in loss of posting privileges.

Then won't they just keep posting here?

Can I suggest a principal for modding it:

You accept the possibility that the other side of the debate is correct.

That is not to say think it is correct. You may be absolutely convinced your side is right.

But nobody has perfect information. Nobody is capable of infallibly perfect logic on every occasion. Any thinking thing is of limited mental capacity. It cannot know everything.

I am not sayig that possibility has to be very high. It might be only a 0.00001% chance. But as long as you accept the possibility someone might be right you can listen to them seriously.

So you treat the other side of the debate as people with information or arguments that have the potential to change your mind. With that attitude you can calmly and rationally evaluate everything that is said. You can then point out its flaws, from your point of view.

People can rationally debate very different opinions, even religiously held ones when you stick with this underlying principle.

If someone comes to a debate without accepting this principle then its not a debate. Its prosthetilysing. The difference is that you dont need to listen to the other side. Its just people yelling at each other with no-one hearing anything.

Let them do it themselves if they feel like they need to discuss it. It is a waste of time and energy in my opinion.

I don't have no desire to have discussions with people who don't even understand the basic principles of what this is all about. I don't discuss geo-politics with my daughter as well.

Plus I have definetly no desire to have discussions with women on this topic. If I want to deal with hamstering I just go and visit one in real life.

Visiting some of the blue pill examples provided here makes me puke, cringe and laugh way enough.

I also don't think this would serve the purpose, but only distract new members from the real important things.

All these discussions have been lead before and won't lead anywhere.

If that sub is modded by red pillers it will always be branded as being biased and mysoginistic and if it is modded by blue pillers you will have a place where you are only allowed to SJW-approved language and discussion.

Edit: I am actually quite surprised that this is proposed by an endorsed contributor.

That's not likely. Aristotle was correct when he said that an informed mind has the ability to seriously entertain an idea it does not agree with, this important in the name of knowledge.

However, as humans we reactively reject what we are not comfortably familiar with. It is too easy for people to feel offense at the thought of their views being proved inadequate, and their natural reaction is to devolve from logical debate to emotional attacks. Once one side degenerates the other follows.

For this to work, everyone here should be open to the idea that they are wrong about some things. Most people interpret "I have a slice of pie" as "I have pie, so I know about all pie everywhere" and not "I have a slice of a pie."

I suggest making How to Disagree

either a permanent sticky at the top of the sub, or the first link on the sidebar. DH0 and DH1 should result in an instant ban. DH 2 gets one warning, and everything else is allowed but below DH4 is frowned upon.
