I've been around on /r/relationships. Anytime something explodes, it's removed by the mods. They will replace the post with "[removed]". The OP doesn't see that it's removed, just everyone else.

I read the OP of the link before checking comments here and noticed this as well. That was the first thing I was going to post about. Glad I'm not the only one who caught this. Holy shit. Her boss would have to be making millions of dollars for $5k purchase to be a drop in the hat for him, and even then he probably still wouldn't buy it for her unless he was fucking her.
