I'm starting to think that the entire concept of SO's/relationships/exclusivity/marriage/etc. is all BS made up through our own civilization.

It is, but this "BS" was necessary to acquire the higher level of social organization that lead to the rise of civilization.

Without this suppression of our species natural sexual instincts, we probably wouldn't have been able to organize into tribes bigger than 100 or so.

Swans, for example, are monogamous. Wolves are, too. They will stay faithful to each other for their entire lives.

Many a species that wanders this earth engages in natural monogamy.

Humans, however, are not - as much as People would like to believe that. Sure, we did (and the majority still does) engage in Social Monogamy, but the times where both parties received equal benefits of marriage are long gone.

Men are polygamous (Wanting to shag everything attractive for genetic distribution), Women are hypergamous (marrying up).

At this point, I'm not sure I ever want emotional investment into a romantic partner ever again. I'm not trying to sound bitter, I'm just being honest. As much as I'd like to be faithful to someone, either I'd end up cheating or she would.

I feel you, though I still hope that I'm going to come across a woman who will meet my criteria to the point where I'm going to ask myself Can I be faithful to her? (Cheers Rollo Tomassi for this one). This is not going to happen now, neither is it going to happen in 10 years.

My uncle is going to be a father in May/June. His wife is a soft 6 at 32, he's an 8 at 45 (5'8 roughly, but damn is he ripped.) Judging her by character, she's someone i could probably stay faithful to too ... when I'm 45, that is. The Dude is happy as ever, and he told me that he had given up on marriage and fatherhood until he met her; not to say engage in oneitis. She was, as he put it, receptive of his lessons that made her a whore in bed, a housewife at the stove and arm candy at venues.

Monogamy in humans, unless purely forced by non-fortuitous circumstances, is a completely artificial construct. You can override your primal impulses but you would indeed be going against the current. That does explain a lot wouldn't you say?

Sexual dimorphism in species including humans exhibit mostly always non-monogamous behaviour. Transitory monogamy can occur in the form of serial monogamy however. Polygamy ultimately rules for the top males.

Remember this the next time you choose to commit - you are as a male choosing the penultimate sacrifice. Think twice, as this needs to be vastly rewarded, and not given away so freely.

A few animals are almost entirely monogamous, I think wolves and swans are popular examples. A few more create exclusive parenting bonds, but where one or both partners will cheat. Humans seems to have evolved using a harem strategy.

For humans, marriage can have benefits, especially in resource scarce or where violent competition is high. Those benefits are magnified when coupled with male centered families and societal honoring of fathers.

Basically, men produce much more than they need which is good for mothers to be. Men are also better fighters. However, men have no incentive to share or protect something that isn't theirs, such as a women or a child. So, marriage and patriarchy evolved to ensure men has access to sex/women and assurance the offspring were theirs. IN exchange men worked to protect and support the family and the women was free to procreate and raise children. A woman's exclusivity and fidelity in exchange for a man's work and sacrifice.

However, most of western society is no longer resource scarce or prone to wide spread violence. As such, the female's incentive for marriage is greatly reduced (she doesn't need his resources or his protection). Without need (as opposed to want) of a man's resources or his protection, women are free to be without men. That gives them options and allows them much greater flexibility in how the manage their relationships. This is neither good nor bad in and of itself, just information necessary if men want to protect themselves.

The only people still perpetuating this notion of marriage is the jews and women, as both are the only ones to benefit from it. The jews like seeing white men get screwed over, and as far as the courts are concerned the woman is always right once you marry her, in regards to separating, children, etc. The most important thing you can do is stay true to yourself and keep it real by only allowing women to get to your feelings through your cock. Try out if shes willing to reverse roles and open doors for you, maybe pick up the tab on the first date.
