What if you KNEW the future ?

In 1997 I picked up a book called The Fourth Turning - now $6 hardcover on amazon - (and hereafter referred to as 4T) - written by William Strauss and Neil Howe. Strauss and Howe had written a number of prior books on history and socio-political ideas both separately and together. They were semi-famous for their Generations book which was the first one to explore and to label all the various behavior patterns among the Greatest Generation (WW2 Vets) Silents (children during WW2) and of course Boomers, Xers, Millenials and Gen Z (whom they call Homelanders).

In 4T Strauss and Howe took a new tack - they realized that there was an overarching cycle to history- or at least American history - and that it was based on the generational configurations which repeated themselves on a roughly 80 year cycle.

They called the 80 year cycle the Saeculum and reasoned that it occurred because as each generation hit the end of their lifespan and died out, their collective wisdom and experience was lost, resulting in a 'rhyming' of history on a regular basis.

The history of Big Existential Wars in America made this cycle fairly clear.

Revolutionary War 1780

Civil War 1860

World War II 1940

In 1997, using the info they had gleaned, Strauss and Howe predicted, in fairly general terms, what was about to happen over the next 20 or so years - the years leading up to the next big 4T Crisis - sometime around 2020. They first predicted that there would be an event or series of events - they called it the Catalyst - that would form the basis for the following Crisis /Big War - one of their possibilities for the Catalyst was - hijackers taking over an airplane and blowing it up. They not only predicted the general form - but equally importantly, the timing.

And we got 911.

Strauss and Howe also predicted that as the 2000s and 2010s moved on, the institutions that had acted as the 'glue' for all that had come since the last Big War would fall apart - thru greed, corruption, malfeasance - they would all of them collapse into oblivion one by one.

Clearly we have seen this happen. The 'institution' of marriage is now a farce, a game played only by the rankest of suckers. The actual institutions themselves, the Federal Reserve, the Congress, even the Presidency have become mere shells of their former selves - all public faith and bestowed prestige being slowly whittled way until only the hollow shell remains. 'Institutions' such as the NFL and NASCAR are controlled by social justice warriors and feminists. They have turned literally 180 degrees from the purpose which they espoused just a decade or two ago.

The change has been insidious and relentless - pervading every aspect of American life. No institution that I can name has been spared.

Strauss and Howe also predicted, that shortly before the collapse in a big Crisis, there would be a last ditch attempt at push-back from those desperate to regain at least a semblance of the old order.

And what do we see ? The RedPill / Married Red Pill / the rise of the Alt-Right, the election of Donald J Trump - a walking breathing anachronism from our past. All of whom are pushing back at the monumental change that has overtaken America. They called this 'The Regeneracy'.

Strauss and Howe even predicted such things as negative household formation - in 1997 at the beginning of the big Tech Boom would anyone have predicted that 20 years later, 1/3 of Millenials up to age 35, would still be living at home in their Boomer parents' basements ?

It is now the very end of 2017.

Those of us with Open Eyes, who have seen the Truth come forward in so many different ways in the last few years, can easily extrapolate to a future that has no place for the very men who created society - the men who build repair maintain are now literally being shut out of everything that makes life worth living - there are no 'safe spaces' for us to retreat to, there is no mancave that women have not decided to invade, no imagined slight that they will overlook.

Now with #MeToo, a man can lose his job, his freedom and never be allowed to work again (thanks to the permanency of Google search) - all on the unsubstantiated word of an insane, history re-writing female with an axe to grind.

In short - the future is now, and it is FUBAR'd beyond all recognition.

After digesting the Fourth Turning I spent quite a bit of time and energy trying to find people who could understand it and apply it, grok it at a necessarily deep level. The only person I found was my father and a few lone internet souls.

I leave this here for you. This shit is going to become epically bad in the next few years - since the Civ War began at Fort Sumter in 1861 and WW2 began at Pearl in 1941, I am hoping against hope that we have till 2021.

That would be nice.

I do not know what the future holds - all I do know is that this book has been wrong about nothing in the last 20 years, and I put this out there as a signal flare for the woke.

I don't see any way that the combination of totally unrestrained Hypergamy in concert with unrestrained greed of the psychopaths running major corps and govt institutions does not lead us into all out war and probably collapse.

Appreciate everyone's response pro & con - the Fourth Turning is a Big Pill to swallow, just like some other ones I once heard about :)

I've got a head-start on you all so I've internalized the theory pretty well over the last 20 years - which may just mean I have a huge blind spot, but I'm OK with that. I tell my kids, if I'm wrong about all this, I wasted a bunch of money had a great time building shit and learning new skills and if not a thing happens I can walk away with no problems.

On the other hand if I am right about this, a whole shit-load of people are going to have their lives irretrievably altered or they just end up dead.

Risk/reward.

You have time to alter your path - can't say someone didn't lead you to water, but you gotta bend your head down yourself and take that first drink.

Note in the comments there - someone postulated that each 4T Crisis War results in a magnitude increase in deaths.

Looks like this :

American Revolution – 50,000 deaths

Civil War – 700,000 deaths

WW II – 65 million deaths

So if the trend follows - the next death total will probably have the word 'billion' in it.
