Summary: If I have a lot to offer, why give it away for free?
Quick anecdote: My friend invited me to an event with 2 other buddys. I was on the fence because I had a meeting early the next day. He tells me not to worry because it wont end too late. I say, "I don't know, I'll see how i feel." He tries harder to convince me. He says his friend from high school is hosting it so we will get hooked up with free food and meet the entertainers. This makes me feel like ill be missing out and I am almost convinced. Finally, as I am about to decide, he says, "oh yeah and the spanish girl i brought home the other day is coming with a bunch of her hot friends."
Do you think I will go now?
Body: The negotiating tactic used by my friend to convince me to go out can be applied to your SMV and the way you interact with others. I have had a lot of success lately getting plates to stick around for longer than the usual ~2-6 months. I think the key to this lies in the fact that I don't talk about myself or advertise things I am doing. Lifting, climbing, programming, sports, side projects, work. These things eventually come up, but only if the topic of the conversation is specifically related.
I never tell a girl where I work or what I do for the first couple interactions. Eventually, she will ask again fearing that I am a loser and I will finally tell her. I have a cool job so when she learns this her perception of me changes from potential loser, to successful.
When I am doing a physical activity and she wants to hang out I just say no, I am busy. If she asks what I am busy with then I just say "Working out". Later on, I will take her rock climbing and she will infer "Oh so this is what he is doing when he says hes busy" and her perception of my value will increase.
Over time, as these positive elements about me come out organically, she will realize that I have a high SMV and I am humble about it. Women find this sexually appealing. You are giving her positive reinforcement. "Not only does this guy work at a cool place and do cool activities, there is probably more to come". Women are emotionally sharp, so they can sense when you have inner confidence, and this is one way they gauge it.
Conclusion: If you invest in yourself, don't tell everyone your portfolio. Let them organically discover you are a great person.
