The point of the SMV scale is to give ballpark numbers on attractiveness.

Just relax and accept that any number for SMV is like a bell curve where the range can vary in either direction.

When you call a girl a SMV 8 the odds are her real value is between SMV 5 and SMV 8 because there typically is a lot of inflation in the numbers.

Very few SMV 9's exist and we don't even accept a SMV 10 as valid... that's oneitis talk to say a woman has a SMV 10.

This graph from the sidebar says that women's value decreases steadily after a certain age, whereas a man's value does the opposite. Is this just the opinion of the guy that posted it? I mean, from the looks of it he's into younger women ~25, but if I were to make the graph it would look different as I find older women to also be attractive.

As far as looks. It is subjective. My 9 is probably a 7 for you.

But regarding women, more than just looks goes into SMV so you can quantify that to an extent.

It actually works surprisingly well. Obvs when you read an internet story about a guy going to a bar and spitting game at dozens of 9s and 10s, it's bullshit. But in the real world you won't have a huge variation where one guy thinks a girl is a 9 or 10 and his buddy thinks the same girl is a 2 or 3.

If you get all the guys in a bar to rate all the girls in a bar, every guy's list will have them in almost the exact same order. Personal preferences for things like hair color, body shape, race, etc can have some effect but it's not going to be huge. Even if you aren't very attracted to blondes, blonde hair by itself won't make you see a girl as a 3 if everyone else sees her as a 9.

Semi-relevant: if you do the same thing with girls ranking the attractiveness of guys, there will be huge variation in their lists.

For SMV (in the case of women, their looks) to be at all useful it has to be as objective as possible. The trick is to be able to step outside yourself and assess how most men would rate the girl. Better yet - if you are into mind games - you step outside yourself to assess how guys who have stepped outside of themselves would rate the girl.

So when citing an HB rating, you have to discount your own quirks and then reflect that in the rating you post. If you have yellow fever, then whatever rating you personally give an Asian chick will have to be adjusted down one or two points as a HB rating that you would share with others. Similarly, if Asian girls definitely not your thing then don't be a solipsistic douchebag and say "Oh, [insert Asian beauty queen/model/movie star] is a 5, at best."

Same thing goes regarding big tits, small tits, BBW lovers, muscles, height, hair, other ethnicities, booty, tattoos, and such. Some people find things a turn on and some find the same things a turn off, but unless you are posting a pic to make it quite clear what the girl looks like, you have to aim for the centre of mass and be reasonable in figuring out where any particular girl stands in relations to other women, in the opinion of most men.

Think of it like this. Success In a date is a challenge to yourself. The higher the SMV of the woman you're trying to bang is the harder it is for you to succeed. This is incorrect. People subjectively rate others based off of their own scales, however on the on the instinctual level we can instantly tell whether someone is being over/undercompensated in a dyad. The rating system is more for relaying that information to others when you're recounting an event and don't have a picture.

First of all, there are universal standards of beauty that are cross cultural based on metrics of the face and body, with a particular emphasis on symmetry. From bushmen in africa to people in new york, when shown a series of pictures and to rate them from ugly to good looking, most of the pictures were rated the same

That said, there are individual preferences that come into play based on an individual's sexual history. If you've only banged white girl with blonde hair, sometimes it's nice to bang something more exotic, so that nice ebony or asian girl gets a 1 or 2 point bump.

Really just judge the only 3 things men care about individually.

All girls are "wouldn't fuck", "would fuck", or "want to fuck". That's about it.

That's really the only scale that matters in practice. However on this sub, and in the internet in general, a scale of 1 to 10 is easily understood with 5/6 as average and 1 being generic failure, 10 being perfect. It works. Don't pay it much mind.

Objectively if you put yourself in 100 strangers shows how do you think they would critically rate this person in attractiveness.

It's a scale of objective attractiveness not quantum physics.
