One of the most popular beliefs in TRP is the “sexual strategy is amoral” idea. Most of you reading this will either agree with it already or want to agree with it as part of “taking the pill”, but personally I think it's the most intellectually bankrupt idea on this subreddit. I will use the sidebar argument to formulate my counter argument.
The basic premise of TRP's argument is that morality is based upon social contracts only (as opposed God or something similar that would imply objective morality) that people by and large agree upon and from this the roots of our ethics, laws and norms spring. This, thus, means that all morality is relative. The argument up to this point is good enough even if it misses the caveat (which is mentioned in the following comment) that neuroscience informs us of our brains having certain moral sentiments hard wired in thus suggesting certain moral principles are, in a sense, natural. While this is a caveat that does not effect my main criticism, it's an important one to note since often in this subreddit what is seen as natural, like the historical roles of men and women in society, are automatically attributed as being good or all that is worth being considered or all that can be depended on. Caveat aside, and continuing the TRP argument, since men and women have different and opposing sexual goals and strategies (men being defined closest with polyamory and women hypergamy) any moral contract formed will invariably benefit one side and hurt the other and operating under strategical suboptimal ones will only harm oneself. Thus sexual strategy is based on perspective and thus amoral.
The logic of that last part would be fine if it weren't for the fact that it's misinformed. We have enough information to declare that societies running under the female imperative fail. The evidence of that is constantly being posted here and other places. It creates vast and unsustainable social security systems, social isolation, and greater unhappiness all around. Statistics show that women's happiness have decreased steadily since feminism has become a dominant force in our culture. That's not to mention the extremely high divorce rates (divorce is almost always started by women) and the vast amount of men who are dissatisfied with the current social environment which gives rise to communities such as these. We also note, on the field, how arbitrarily picky women are and how this causes both men and women to be lonely and frustrated.
Logically, we can also see that an emotional disposition wherein one only wants the best of the best is doomed to fail as there is simply not enough of the best (alphas and the time and energy of those alphas) to be passed around for every woman nor is every woman the best herself which means she doesn't even qualify for what she wants. Even the alphas at the top themselves lose out as the irrationality of hypergamy can punish men for acting upon the voluntary harems that form around them such as, to give a concrete example, in cheating scandals among rich and powerful men which can destroy or severely damage a man's life. It's important to note and understand that the desire for harsh consequences for alphas who stray are intrinsically connected with the desire for the alphas themselves; You can't have one without the other.
Social contracts that instead would encourage a more polyamorous standard (which is, by it's nature, accepting rather than exclusionary) will benefit everyone. Sure, many women will lose out on the fantasy of having their cake and eating it, but that's literally about all that would be lost. An illusion. Everything and everyone else would benefit from it including those women who feel disillusioned even if it's just in undoing the harm hypergamy running loose causes. So given this analysis I think it's very clear that there is optimal social contract that will maximize happiness and it is the one that invalidates, as much as possible, the irrational and contradictory demands of hypergamy. Thus, to say, in the sense that the sidebar argument says, sexual strategy is amoral is just wrong. The better and more ethical sexual strategy for everyone is the one that keeps hypergamy in check.
