Little back story on myself: I workout, I drink bourbon, scotch, whiskey and beer. I eat red meat, I love cars and racing, I shoot guns, I love custom tailored suits, US Marine, Iraqi veteran.

We talk about what is masculinity, we talk about weight lifting, and MMA and getting dirty and I enjoy it. Here’s some insight I have noticed in the last week. One I love racing, cars and Formula 1. (google it) I work on an older Mustang, anyways I got stuck in Manhattan last Saturday night, so I pull over and ask every man that walks by, every male delivery boy, doormen etc. point is I asked every MAN that wanders by asking for 1. A vice grip, or 2. Pliers or 3. Hand tools. I was blown away none of the men even knew what vice grip/pliers were. That’s when it dawned on me, men we talk about being alpha striving for alpha, being that guys guy, mans man. Learn some basic mechanic work, learn and own some basic hand tools. Whether its auto work, or house work, yard work learn it gents. We live in the generation and location (city locations) where I have realized no one changes light bulbs and fixes a leaky sink anymore. (if you live in the country, farm, Midwest, down south) yes I get it you gents know what your doing guns, cars, tool etc. I’m talking about these city gents (nothing wrong with being one) I lived and live close to NYC and I love it, so I’m usually the one getting called “city slicker” “scarf wearing, pretty boy/metro” But I don’t mind because I back it up with working on my racecar, motorcycle, house etc. (aka getting dirty)

Two, weight lifting/calisthenics/working out is a bare minimal, a foundation on creating a hard body and growing. Someone recently posted about being soft as baby shit if you don’t 1. Box 2. MMA which I agree with an would love to take up boxing. What im getting at here? I went indoor rock climbing last Saturday and let me tell you, I felt like a soft, weak, little boy, weightlifting is great but go try rock climbing/bouldering I couldn’t believe how challenging mental and physical it is and I couldn’t believe how sore and fatigued I was after a couple hours of climbing. Gents do yourself a favor and go try climbing, the hand grip/strength that it takes and you will eventually grow is amazing, plus the getting out of your comfort zone, being “scared” or uncomfortable while climbing was an awesome experience.

Tldr:

  1. Know basic hand tools and some DIY.

  2. Go try rock climbing

  3. Being alpha is many slices of the pie, add more slices of know-how to your pie.
