I do not identify as a red piller but I read through this sub in order to glean information that might help me improve my own social identity so I can be the man I want to be. I have found a lot of useful information, the least of which is how to pick up women. I owe my motivation for making positive changes in my life this year to what I have read on TRP. TRP has helped me to redraw some of my conceptual maps for how I view the world so that I have a more open and malleable understanding of the world I live in.

I wanted to share a little nugget of information with this community because I have benefited from reading so here goes: I've observed a lot of a specific confusion both here and on r/asktrp.

The confusion I'm talking about is that of the map and the territory.

You read all kinds of stuff here. Many things tell you how to score with women or supposedly how the world really is. Sure, many fellas use the information here to have success in reaching various goals.

But there is a lot of failure and I think that we can attribute a lot of that failure to confusion between map and territory.

You have a conceptual map of the world/culture/society/etc you live in. You should be adding to/redrawing these maps constantly. This practice is a staple of proper mental health. The map is never finished. Do not forget this. As soon as you think you've got a full picture, you're doomed.

It seems that many people are pulling information from TRP and then considering their maps complete with this new information. Or maybe some people completely replace their maps with what TRP preaches and then leave it at that. This is bad for your mental health and guarantees failure. This is also promises depression and anxiety.

I just wanted to give a helpful reminder to you folks: The map is NEVER finished! If you're not changing your map every day with every new experience then you are not paying enough attention to the world around you.

Do not ever make the mistake of believing you know how the world works. Do not be dogmatic. You have to constantly adjust to the world around you in order to affect any change to the world in your favor. If you hold on tightly to a belief that the world should be some way and fail to make adjustments within yourself, you're gonna have a bad time.

I'll leave you with a good quote from one of my favorite authors:

"As soon as dogma enters the brain, all intellectual activity ceases" - Robert Anton Wilson.
