The TEA Has Been Spilled

We all agree that the modern dating scene sux. Everyone is siloed, men lack ambition and opportunities and women have out of control hypergamy and delusion. Both sides catfish.

Evidently there is (or soon to be "was") a site called "tea for women" on which women can upload photos of men, as well as their contact info, apparently, and dish. Maybe they say "Stan is a great guy...dated woman I know. Total gentleman," or maybe "Joe is a convicted felon with at least 3 DV arrests and an STD. Run away! Run away!"

Side Note: Guess whose DMs are going to be filled as a result.

Hint: Not Stan's.

Ofc, another problem is that this set up is ripe for abuse - the men on it are basically being doxxed without their knowledge, with no opt out, no visibility, and therefore also without any redress or right of reply. So basically it's a Defamation Machine for bitter women. And maybe it warns them against the occasional dirtbag.

I would not ordinarily give a shit about any of this but smth funny happened to TEA. TEA requires that women - and only women can use the app - to upload photos and a government issued ID to prove that they are, in fact, women.

TEA did not, apparently, store this information very securely. Very unsecurely in fact. It wasn't even hacked there was just some url manipulation apparently.

TEA's practices got the attention of a person or persons on the internet and that person or persons "Struck Back in the Name of Justice!" and at least some of TEA's users - as many as 13,000 - got doxxed.

As TEA, as I understand it, required a government ID, those are out there, and from what I can gather, the average TEA user looked remarkably like this. N.B. In fairness, I do refer to myself, from time to time, as "looking like I am made up out of spare dinosaur parts."

They probably should have left shit alone. This is advice I frequently give. Before you escalate, think twice. Then again. Then sleep on it. Be sure. Because Karma, it seems, isn't limited to Coldplay concerts.
