I completely agree.

I use the first meet as screening. Either we're having coffee or she is drunk. I disappear in an hour or so. This is not a real date.

The second meet, the first real date, I make my move. If she's too good for me, fine. Plenty of fish in the sea. (I make sure she is not too drunk this time.)

As for rules, whether a 3 date rule or a first date rule, they place unnecessary pressure on both parties. It becomes restrictive. Sure, for people starting out, it is a good guideline and forces action and escalation, but after a while it becomes needlessly restrictive.

The fuck me or hate me approach works well, and is another perspective. However, hating and fucking are not mutually exclusive, and the rule may be misinterpreted. Furthermore, this will burn bridges and will bite your ass if used wrong.

Rules or not, always use your best judgement. Regular people stick to the rules, wise people use them as guidelines.

Would this still apply if you're purpose is looking for an LTR and eventually a marriage? In that case, wouldn't the woman signal herself as a potentially better mate if she didn't succumb to pressure after 1 date?

I'm not big on rules, but I try to make sure there's at least nudity by the second meeting, which is usually the "first date".

my view on this -> there are 4 options for a first date - put in order from the best option to worst: 1. she puts out because you're playing everything by the book/she's strongly attracted and she just can't resist you 2. she puts out because she's a just a random slut 3. she doesn't put out because that's not what she does/you did not impress her enough/is in her second phase of cycle/menstruating 4. she doesn't put out because she wants you to think that she's not easy

Generally speaking #1 is WIN. #2 is WIN too. #3 is bad because they can be confused with #4 and you can end up wasting your time.

General approach that works great - don't invest more time and resources in women than they do. This is a great rule because it works in your favour every time - even if you're too dumb to identify a royal slut just from a random conversation with her.

The three date rule is more a guideline for new folks and serves as a quick & easy way for them to not waste their time. I figure someone who's experienced and knows wtf they are doing can make their own decision about when to cut a girl loose.

I make my own rules. I call a girl or bed a girl when I want, how I want. OP's quote is wrong. It's not fuck the the date rule; fuck the concept of made up rules dictating what I can do.

I have an honest question, because I'm curious about your stance on something. Why is it perfectly acceptable for men to be promiscuous and brag about getting laid with frequency, yet women are labeled as sluts for doing the exact same thing? Both genders want sex, so why is it more acceptable for one gender than the other to actually admit that their goal is to have a lot of sex?
