My soon tone ex wife was misdiagnosed with depression when she is actually bipolar. She was placed on an SSRI and within a month was fucking another guy. I am a med student and she is a nurse practitioner. This new guy a hospital security guard. People are telling me to be patient with her because it her disease and she isn't responsible. Fuck that noise! I dropped her ass like a bad habit. Luckily we have no children and she doesn't want anything from me but a divorce so I made it through without a scratch. She's already planning a wedding with the security guard and is planning to have a baby as soon as possible. I feel sorry for the poor bastard.

I realize that. I'm still a very young guy with my whole life ahead of me. I will never get married again! There is too much risk involved. One day she seemed fine and the next she had totally lost her mind. I'm sure my life would be a shit storm right now if children, which we were planning to having soon, and large assets had been involved.
I'm a firm believer that both parties intending to marry should be psychologically evaluated to determine that they're both mentally sound. My perfect little unicorn became addicted to pain pills about two years into our marriage and when she kicked that habit about 5 years later, she was diagnosed as bipolar. My take on it is that she was self-medicating with the pain pills. Of course, once the doctor determined the right mix of prescriptions for the bipolar, she refused to stay on them. My life was a living hell with her. I supported her through the addiction recovery and into the bipolar diagnosis but when she refused to take her meds, I eventually realized that I was wasting the balance of my life.
People get medically tested prior to marriage, some enter into a pre-nup. I think a psychological test makes a lot of sense too.
Like you, I seriously doubt that I will ever marry again. If I do, it will be with a rock solid pre-nup and with both of us having the psych evaluation. That's the only way I'll consider it.

Bipolar and BPD are pretty much labels for mannerisms and personalities, NOT an incurable disease that explains away dumb choices. I don't care what anyone says.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is all about this fact: that our habits determine our belief set and ultimately our emotions. It then becomes obvious that coddled dumb girls and snotty bitches are the primary groups labeled with both of these ailments. It comes from no discipline and a shit upbringing.
