Well, to a degree this is what luxury brands do by proxy. Actually, I would believe this is what most do. The quality of a luxury item is not reflected in price as often as people think. Marketing and reputation is what gives these items their luxury status. Whether that reputation is derived from the people who wear them, or the quality itself is dependent on whether or not the item is luxurious in quality or only in image.

yep. just think about it: all the luxury promotions have to be financed in a way. boss ads, boss formula 1 sponsorships, boss boxing promotions - and all is paid by the consumer.

but in some cases, there just is no subsitute - what is the substitute for mercedes (without advertising/sponsorships) ? the closest would IMHO be a lexus, but my experience is that they have less quality.

Outside of the United States Mercedes isn't heavily marketed as a luxury vehicle. Funny thing about cultures.

I definitely read an article that said that men are way more likely to fall for Facebook scams. Anyways, I don't think it has anything to do with gender. During the interaction you're thinking about other things and your stress level is higher so you are unlikely to think of these things. After the interaction your frontal lobe can act unhindered and you start to think about the things that were off about the interaction. This is why most scams are single interaction scams. The longer the scam takes the more time is available to think through what's wrong.
