I've seen several posts on other subs where people post "what are those guys about, anyway? I tried reading some but got lost", or words to that effect. And, to be fair, I can see their point: the sidebar posts like Introduction provide context for the TRP subreddit for those who have already taken the pill (or at least have it in their mouth), but there's no "basic tenets" post that will provide a simple explanation for those who really have no idea what goes on here. I think this post or one like it should be added to the sidebar.

Here's my take on what a "what is this" post would look like:

The Red Pill in three basic lessons.

1) men and women observably exhibit different sexual behaviors, preferences, and strategies;

2) The male behaviors which modern Western culture teaches us are desirable, can be observed not to reliably lead to sexual success;

3) The question of which male behaviors do reliably lead to sexual success is an empiric rather than a normative question.

That's it. Guys come to the red pill asking why women don't react to them the way they would expect, even though they're doing everything that they were taught they were "supposed" to do. We teach those guys that what men are taught they ought to do, and for that matter, what women explicitly say they want from men, is an entirely different matter from what women actually respond to with sexual willingness and desire.

The bulk of the content on this sub consists of examining male and female behavior from an empiric mindset, and discussing whether those behaviors are likely to lead to sexual success and whether that success would be expected or unexpected according to popular society's views on sexuality. Many of the examples posted are held up as examples of "blue pill" behavior (societally-recommended actions which lead to sexual frustration or failed relationships), or "red pill" behavior (societally-disapproved actions which lead to sexual success or successful relationships).

We encourage man to cultivate traditional masculine values, attributes, and behaviors such as physical strength, financial achievement, and confident leadership, because those traits are valuable in themselves and also lead to greater success with the opposite sex.

However, we don't tell men what they should do. The red pill is about pragmatic empiricism, not about normative idealism. We encourage approaching male-female relations with a scientific viewpoint and honestly considering what outcomes result from which actions; we do not presume to tell men what outcomes they should work towards, only that they can reach whatever their goals are more effectively if they work towards them with their eyes open.

To the extent that a man wants to be successful with women (however he personally defines success), it behooves him to know and practice the kinds of behaviors and cultivate the attributes that women actually do respond sexually to. That's the red pill.
