Being a bartender has status in the actual bar. It's the same as the DJ. You are effectively above everyone else there besides the owner. You're in a position of authority and power. You are the one who chooses who gets drinks first. You have free reign to talk to anybody there and nobody would think its weird. In fact they welcome it so they get better service.

It's more high social proof than high smv.

[–]IDGAFwhatmyREStagis12 points13 points14 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with what you've said, plus most of the bartenders I know have really good social skills because they practice them constantly as part of their job. They learn to make conversation and joke with complete strangers.

[–]1PaulRivers103 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Social proof is an important component in smv.

[–]thaharlsta3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes but it's very fickle. No girl is really going to be impressed that you are a bartender, it only works while you are on duty.

[–]StasisNation 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So, here's the deal. Bouncer here. The bartenders at my bar pull girls all the time, it's as simple as that. But what kind of people are bartenders?

  • Centre of attention, everyone wants the bartender to pay attention, give special attention, hell, ignore others even. People tip their favourites high simply for conversation or to monopolize time.

  • Free drinks are nice, but bartenders have a lot of control in the bar. They dictate who needs to leave when. Piss off a bartender? Have a good night somewhere else. Touch our bartenders and you eat shit.

  • Bartenders themselves have to be fun people. If they want to make tips, they have to be likeable, engaging, hard working people. But they don't have to take shit from anyone. Your money isn't worth it to them.

In short, good bartenders are your basic definition of Redpillers. They have to be to be good at their job. I'd argue they have plenty of access , and plenty of SMV, so it's just easier for them than other people. Why have SMV/Access when you can have both?

[–]1Zackcid1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I like your perspective. In terms of jobs that fit TRP real nicely, which would support it better in your opinion: Bartender or University professor?

As a professor, you're constantly and inadvertently the Alpha Male of the group. You're at the front, giving the orders, holding these students futures in your hands, etc. These people come to see you everyday to ask you questions and seek out value. Generally, if you place a beta chump into this position and see him after a couple of years, he should come out relatively alpha from his circumstances of having no choice but to be Alpha and leading.

You've already stated the bartender points. Now, if I were to ask you which profession is more "conductive" and facilitates the alpha lifestyle, which do you think it would be. I'm personally looking to find my career, but I've decided that it must be one which actually forces me to be high value/status. Working as a coal miner surrounded by men all day doesn't lead to that right mindset. The coal miner would occasionally show up to the bar, but he'd have no experience leading people or interacting with women. He'd be at a loss unless he's already alpha.

[–]Shooter-Mcgavinn0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Based on your post I would live to have you bouncing for me.

[–]StasisNation 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I could never work for a man who eats pieces of shit for breakfast.

Thanks for the consideration though.

[–]Shooter-Mcgavinn0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nice catch. Everyone asks where I got my name from.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Multiple reasons.

  1. Access. They are constantly around drunk women.
  2. SMV. They're the "Boss" of the bar, which grants them instant status there.
  3. Conversational skills. They do this for a living, they don't give a shit if the girl really likes them or not, so they don't throw the needy vibe out which is half the game.

[–]1PaulRivers104 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They don't make much money ( unless it's a special venue )

For SMV, women generally don't care how much money you make as long as you can afford your own place and to go out and have fun.

and going around saying your a bartender isn't exactly high fucking status.

You're wrong. The bartender at a bar basically runs the show. He has a huge amount of social proof, everyone who interacts with him enters his frame, everyone there wants him to like them (even if it's only a tiny bit, but it's a whole room full of people), etc etc etc. Plus of course there definitely is the simple "access" factor that you mention as well.

They don't control who can get into the venue either like a doorman does.

The bouncer or doorman is usually much lower status than the bartender. He lets people in, yes - but he doesn't go in himself. He's not part of the party. He's not part of the action. He's not part of the fun.

The bouncer is like the chaperone at the school dance, or the person selling tickets at the counter.

Their interaction with people is also different - bouncers are fairly adversarial. They have to be. They have to be ready to interact with the lowest common denominator of people who are coming to the bar. It means they have to act in a way to indicates lower social status, usually.

I agree that access is very important, I don't think this is a good example of that. The bartender has a huge amount of SMV as part of his job.

[–]dreguan5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Best not to confuse correlation with causation. Its not like being behind a bar gets you laid but being charming and outgoing well kept and good looking gets you both behind a bar and laid.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Bartenders have social value and status in their bar. They can decide who gets drinks first, they can hook up drinks for cheap. Girls just want the edge over the other girls they're with so even something like "I know the bartender" is huge. Bartenders are better looking on average, they have to look nice at work and were probably chosen for the job based on appearance (at least a little bit).

They also practice talking to people for living, they will never have to do an awkward cold approach. The girl comes up to them when she wants a drink, they chat, then when the bartender is off the girl is already drunk and knows who the bartender is. The girl's friends also know who the bartender is so they will let her go home with him. Even though the connection is vague they feel like they can trust the bartender because they know where he works. He was pouring their drinks all night and they didn't get roofie'd so he must be an alright guy, right?

All these things contribute so yes, bartenders do get a lot of pussy.

Personal Experience Here:

waitresses came and went during seasons, most give BJs under the table, get fucked after work by us. Hostess had a boyfriend, din't stop her from getting fingered all the time. Drunk girls saturday late into the night would dance everywhere. most girls would throw themselves at us, poking their tits in our faces, giving us their numbers, holding our hands firmly. After work was over, we picked girls to our place to fuck for the night.

To answer your first question. Most bartenders i know do get massive amounts of pussy. Fact.

What bar did you work at?!

[–]Shooter-Mcgavinn3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lotta whores in the food industry in general. Believe me.

[–]throwaway2arguewith2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It depends on the venue.

It was ok in a "real" bar, but other locations (more food oriented), we were just viewed as the "help".

I think you assume it's some sort of dead end job.

Okay, but how many people actually end up getting into distribution that are bartenders? What, maybe 2 percent? How many people in distribution actually worked as a bartender? Again, maybe 10 percent?

It's not a career. It's the same type of career a stripper does. Eventually, as you get older, you realize all your friends are now making good money, and you have no real marketable skills. So you are 35 with a resume that just says, "bartender".

[–]gohammer31 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Worked as a busser at a bar and the bartemders I worked with could get pussy at a drop of a hat. My manager would always leave a large box of condoms in the staff washroom.

[–]trudatness 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Was a bartender - got more ass than a toilet seat.

[–]Shooter-Mcgavinn2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link

Bartender here. Yes I get more pussy bein behind the bar than In front of it. It's kinda like being in charge of the party. And women love power in any form. I don't let people in, but piss me off and you won't be staying. Plus like you said, we already get to have a reason to talk to women, so they don't auto assume I'm just trying to fuck. And as far as money goes? I can make 400 dollars in two days. Friday and Saturday. Working 8-2. 12 total hours. And that's just tips. Not including the 10 I make an hour. That 520/12 hrs. Or a little or 43 an hour. Chump change huh? Also I'm very good at being witty and have great social skills. All put on display when I'm behind the bar. And women eat that shit up. Plus just being able to kick people out and flex any power you have, I've seen girls eat that shit up too. And if you would see half the shit I see guys do or say when trying to pick up women, it not that hard for me to chase you off cause you're a drunk ass and then look like a hero.

Edit: and it's not just customers I've fucked. Lotta staff also. I'm super terrible with company ink.

[–]fodosho0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Lol I see bartenders talk this shit all the time. All of them claim to make 150-200k a year yet drive around in an altima or a toyota. They fuck 5-6's who they claim are 10's and get "mad pussy." I guess hangin out at a bar 16 hours a day and fucking ugly bitches isn't for me tho.

[–]Shooter-Mcgavinn-1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Wow where did I say I made that much? Keep getting butt hurt pussy. Someone asked a question and I relate my personal experience. I live In a small town and average about 25-34k a year. Nothing crazy but I also don't try. And just like the other pussy who thinks my 10's are his 6's. you're both retared. Bartender musta fucked your girl. It's all right. There's bigger and better alphas all the time. I see your kind of jealousy all the time and it really amuses me. Keep hating some randoms on the Internet. Way to improve your game. Idiot.

Edit: let's see, 400 for workin the weekends, 52 weekends a yea=20,800. Damn. I seem to be right on with what I said I make. Fukinig idiot.

[–]fodosho-2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

lol, beta much? Keep raging. :)

[–]booyah20 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Do you just bartend on the weekend? Or is it a full time gig? How did you get that?

[–]Shooter-Mcgavinn0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I'm 30 now and I've been doing it since I was 18. Full time now as I'm pretty much bar manager. (I don't want the responsibility, but I still help with a lot of the mgmt responsibility.) I probably shoulda quit awhile ago, but I love the fast money, fast women and the fun times. Hard to break away from. When I was in my early to kid twenties it was nothing but After parties and drinking. And if you work at a local hot spot, you'll get to meet all the other bar workers around town. And if you think you can have fun at a bar before, wait till you know all the staff and owners personally at all the local bars. Club and bar workers do look out for each other. We don't charge covers for each other etc.

[–]1Zackcid0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I also work at a nightclub/bar and I wanted to know if what people are saying about getting the job is true. Did you have to climb the ladder to become bartender? I'm at the bottom of the chain right now, but my intentions are to upgrade to higher positions and end up bartender or manager.

Your 18 year old self, did you just walk up to the bar and apply to be a bartender or was networking and climbing the hierarchy involved?

[–]Shooter-Mcgavinn4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I had an in and started working for some relatives at a bar they owned. But I started out as a bar back. Basically the bartenders bitch. Get ice, stock the bar, cut fruit, etc. In return, they showed me how to run a bar. Make drinks, etc. if you have no bar exp this is generally what they do. Have you get some exp and then work your way up. On the other side if you already know how to bartend, then just apply for it. You don't have to work your way up. Clubs are harder tho. You tend to have to make way more complicated drinks then at a bar and resturant. Club bitches drink crazy shit so it's harder to bullshit you way into a club bartender than say making whiskey presses at a bar and grill.

[–]fodosho0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

They get quantity but not quality. Picking up the passed out fat chick at the bar when you are closing and mopping up puke and piss isn't the kind of life I'd live. I'd prefer to be a customer pick up the 8-10's and go home with them instead.

[–]Shooter-Mcgavinn3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Bartender here. Ive nailed many a 7-10's. and many a married woman. Never forget about the neglected married woman. She sits at my bar I show her the attention she's not getting. Game over. If you bartender is banging the hogs, he is t very good or just doesn't give a fuck. Bartenders not only pull constant pussy. But quality pussy.

Ima a bartender.

Only problem is your 10 is my 6.

[–]Shooter-Mcgavinn4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What basis do you have for determining this? Have you seen the women I've dated? Thought not. Keep talking outta your ass.

[–]VodkaTankerSpill0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

HHe is always in the spotlight so to say, kinda like a social hub of the venue.

[–]Shooter-Mcgavinn0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Stinfsirly new here guys and learning. Could someone explain what smv is?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

SMV = sexual market value. Do you know the 1-10 scale for a woman's hotness? It's pretty much the same as that if you want a basic explanation.

Read rationalmale or krauserpua for more detailed explanations.

Why, exactly, do you view the working class with such negativity? I'm a desk-jockey now, but I'm proud of my blue collar roots.

[–]zxz242-4 points-3 points-2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

1) Lower-class culture creates all the negative stereotypes that any and all ethnic groups have.

2) It breeds anti-intellectualism, blind individualism, blind collectivism, abrasive manners and behaviour, and values emotional thinking above logical / critical thought.

3) Awful fashion sense ;) - who in their right mind would wear clothes 2 or 3 sizes larger than necessary? How inefficient and sloppy.
